to watch you grow into the person you are has been the greatest privilege of my life; maybe in another life, we're two potted plants that bask in the sunlight together, for this life, i'll just watch you shine bright from a distance and refuse to look away even when it blinds me.
the number of hours we have together is actually not so large. please linger near the door uncomfortably instead of just leaving. please forget your scarf in my life and come back later for it.
do you ever feel yourself changing? and feel a sense of bittersweetness? a nostalgia for who you were, and an excitement yet hesitance for who you are becoming?
my fear is dreaming about my younger self and having to tell her that we have become exactly the type of person we swore we would never be and now we have to live with it and hold all the carcasses of our dreams. and then i’ll have to console her. just in case anyone asked.
