On 1 June 2008, Tafadzwa Meda was driving his father's lorry through Nyamuyaruka Business Centre in Mudzi when a truck carrying ZANU-PF militia pulled in behind him, forcing him to flee.

As he tried to escape, one of the pursuers opened fire, sending a bullet into his leg.

Bleeding heavily, Meda drove until he could go no further, abandoned the lorry and crawled into nearby scrub, hoping those hunting him had lost his trail. Their search yielded nothing, so they set the vehicle ablaze. The flames lit the surrounding darkness and revealed where he lay.

Accusing him of transporting MDC supporters, the militia hauled him from his hiding place, bundled him into their truck and drove him to Broken Bridge on the Nyandire River.

There, one of them stepped forward and shot him at close range, after which they dumped his body beneath the bridge and drove away.

In Zimbabwe, exercising his democratic rights became a death sentence.

ZANU-PF murdered Tafadzwa Meda.

In 1982, a Zimbabwean teacher earned the equivalent of about US$1,500 a month, enough to secure a mortgage for a middle-class home in Avondale, Hillside or Murambi — and buy a modest car.

In 2026, a teacher receives just US$320 a month in hard currency, with the balance paid in ZiG. It is not enough to comfortably cover food, rent and transport.

Thanks to ZANU-PF — teachers went from middle class to hand-to-mouth living.

But even with all my shortcomings, I could never imagine being someone who considers themselves as opposing ZANU PF, but yet spend most of my time and energy opposing Nelson Chamisa MORE than I oppose the regime itself. 🤦🏾‍♂️

There are too many of us with this baffling affliction.

You have forgotten the path of sanity.

ZANU PF is the enemy of Zimbabweans, of progress, development, of joy.
ZANU PF is the oppressor.

Anyway … listen, this man President Chamisa is a natural leader - a humble, intelligent, resilient and inspiring trailblazer.
An oratory genius.

An authentic man who cares deeply about his country, and about this nation’s people - their plight and their destiny.

There’s a reason he has won two Presidential elections.
In fact, the only currently living Zimbabwean to have won a Presidential Election… 🤷🏾‍♂️

A tenacious crusader who does not shirk from the enormity of starting a movement from scratch.

He BUILDS, what others only have the ability to try to hijack.
A champion with the courage to risk it all, in pursuit of the vision of that shining city on the hill 🌟 – that which is the New Great Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼

To those furnished with ire and envy, who find themselves in his shadow despite ALL their efforts - rather than attack him because his skills, ability and earned influence frustrate you, why not simply try to do BETTER so that you can attract people who believe in your vision. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Do the hard work of building something from the ground up, as he did.

That painstaking process breeds inspired followers of your vision. 👍🏾
Don’t take shortcuts.

And remember this: you cannot HATE your way into the People’s hearts.

You cannot lie and ridicule your way into people's hearts.
Jealousy and envy are not inspiring traits...

Mr. Khama caught wind of the plot from two credible sources who tipped him off.

ZANU PF are playing with fire.

Hatcliffe was no random location. It lay within Harare North, one of the MDC's strongest constituencies after the 2000 parliamentary election, where Trudy Stevenson defeated ZANU-PF by almost four votes to one. As Zimbabwe headed towards the March 2002 presidential election, political violence escalated sharply across the country. January 2002 became the deadliest month of the campaign to that point, with the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum recording 16 politically motivated killings alongside widespread torture, abductions and ZANU-PF militia bases used to interrogate and brutalise suspected opposition supporters. Katsamudanga's murder formed part of that nationwide campaign to dismantle the MDC's local organisation through terror.

At about 4pm on 28 January 2002, 26-year-old MDC member Tichaona Katsamudanga walked out of Hatcliffe Clinic in northern Harare when a Mazda 323 pulled up beside him.

The men inside were ZANU-PF militia.

They bundled Katsamudanga into the vehicle and drove him to a ZANU-PF base in Hatcliffe, where they demanded to know where MDC meetings were being held and the identities of the party's local officials.

When he refused to give them the information they wanted, the torture began.

While the Mazda's engine revved, the attackers attached cables from the vehicle's battery to his inner thighs and beneath his fingernails, sending electric shocks through his body. They squeezed his diaphragm until he struggled to breathe before forcing him to swallow a herbal mixture and releasing him.

Doctors examined him the following day. They found him profoundly ill, more than ten per cent dehydrated, slightly disorientated and unable to straighten his legs because of severe spasms in his thigh muscles. He was rushed to a high-care unit suffering from a severe electrolyte imbalance caused by uncontrollable diarrhoea.

Katsamudanga fought for another week.

On 5 February 2002, he died at Avenues Clinic.

His family deserves justice.

Zimbabwe awaits justice.

ZANU-PF murdered Tichaona Katsamudanga.
