@JakeAnbinder We just had this experience this weekend. Was assured repeatedly on booking (via phone!) that we would have a bedroom. Ended up with 3 kids (1 infant) and 2 adults in a slightly larger hotel room 😑
@clhubes We actually do the opposite. Toddlers don’t know to expect gifts whereas big kids do. My 4 year old was very happy with the few gifts he got from grandparents at his party and we didn’t have to find space for 20 more things we don’t need! Next year we won’t specify
@e8chin@clhubes We just had our 3rd and the math right works out to:
3 kids = 10 kids
2 kids = 1 kid
1 kid = 0 kids, practically on vacation
This sounds harder but because we have school and childcare most of the time it feels easier!
@clhubes Both had an understandable POV, but the only asshole in this situation is an adult who went out of her way to make a kid feel excluded! I would have asked the kid to ask her mom if it was ok (food allergies, almond moms etc) but then let them have a damn piece of cake!

@rmc031 We have three kids and are choosing to stay in a smaller city for as long as possible, but sometimes it feels like we’re swimming upstream. Families staying is important to thriving cities and not everyone has a choice to leave.
@melodyhahm I had to do this with my first and it’s so rough. We were working toward a goal
of exclusive nursing which kept me going one day at a time. Also, supplementation can take the pressure off - even just to drop one pumping session!
@clhubes But also, buying a house (even in Baltimore lol) is the MOsT stressful time from the offer until you get the keys in your hand. Was truly nauseated and thinking about backing out every single day of escrow.
@clhubes We gave up on the DC market and moved to Baltimore, a place I had never spent more than 20 mins in before we bought a house. Huge gamble but it worked out! We now own two houses here for less than one would cost in our old neighborhood.
@erfaulkner @clhubes 8 weeks with 3 and I am experiencing this same phenomenon! During spring break I had to keep counting them “1…2…3” otherwise I had zero confidence in my ability to keep track of them all.
@clhubes This is the reason why 7 years and 3 kids in we somehow have 6 strollers??? And yet still sometimes I want something we don’t have? I try not to think about it too much. 😵💫
@clhubes My baby screams at the top of his lungs from 6 pm-whenever we put him to bed and I make my family gather at the dinner table and talk about our days like it isn’t happening. A daily re-enactment of:
@clhubes We moved from DC to Baltimore to be close to my in laws and I would have moved to the ends of the earth if I had to. It’s a game changer in every way
Maternal care in the U.S. is a patriarchal system designed to control women (even if you have a great HCP). Hire birth workers! Seek out support systems! You deserve to be heard! https://t.co/RSYrtHhcEi
@JessGrose being on the “other side” of the lockdowns makes me sadder for what my kids missed during that time. For example, we were trying to recall why my youngest (3) had never been to rosh hoshana dinner and then we remembered. I hope that loss will get smaller as they grow older
