Very interesting to see what's in the pipeline from the @CDCgov regarding #RSV vaccinations for older adults! Great update on vaccines @AmerGeriatrics#AGS23
@thomas_elness@DawnaMughalPhD You'd think...and yet if I had a dollar for every resident/student afraid of multimorbidtity, a long med list, and how to balance everything ... and how that scares them from pursuing geriatrics... Most of my mentorship is ensuring them they really can do it.
@DawnaMughalPhD Compensation, complexity, & fear of #death from colleague convos. I think more education re: variety of job options in #geriatrics would help. But IMO a cultural shift in American #healthcare is overdue re: #goalsofcare to make #medstudents ready to serve our #aging society
My first @AmerGeriatrics Annual Scientific Meeting as a geriatrician ... going to Disney World ... literally!! [and figuratively for geriatricians!] #AGS22#geriatrics π΄π΅β€
@ParivashSanders@KK_medicine Skyla is the younger sister who is jealous she isn't in the multiplet, but she is a CEO of a marketing firm on the lower east side with 10 cats, so she's all good.
Proof is in the pudding. Propositions are cute, but my patients are dying NOW, and our local urgent cares ran out of #COVID19 tests last week. Where was this at the start of #Omicron? Or is this just not #California's priority? From a tired #ChulaVista based #geriatrician & #PCP
We are proposing a NEW COVID-19 Emergency Response Package that will be the largest in the nation and will provide immediate funding for:
- More tests
- More vaccines and boosters
- More support for hospitals
- More partnerships to fight misinformation
Can someone at @CDCgov explain where exactly in the #coronavirus life cycle do staffing shortages play a role in its transmission? And why my immune system as a doc allows shortened quarantine times vs others? Or are we just your pawns?
I'll wait...

Not surprised @US_FDA approved aducanumab, a drug that so far has failed to show benefit in Alzheimerβs disease. Shows that evidence doesnβt really matter. We should go back to all failed phase III trials, pick a random time-point, find a positive signal, and seek approval.
Just shy of my 30th birthday, I received the best present ever. Today, I have officially graduated @UCSDHealth's #Geriatrics#Fellowship and am proud to call myself a #geriatrician, a dream over a decade in the making!!
