We are healthcare students who recognize the *preventable* harm that @fordnation's policies has had!
We demand:
1. 10 paid sick days
2. Pandemic response prioritizing public health over policing
3. Equitable vaccinations
Step up or step aside #HealthWorkersFightBack
Unfortunately, a number of our elected officials in @cityoftoronto governance do not believe that it's worthwhile to pursue accountability for the violence we saw against unhoused people and their advocates, many of whom work in or with TDIN member agencies. Egregious.
Only 11 residential schools have been searched.
Already 5000 graves of children have been found.
There were 1300 residential schools.
Just sit with that.
The scale of violence is truly beyond words.

They didn’t want smaller class sizes because they knew once we had them, we would never go back. Same for #PaidSickDays. Same for Universal Basic Income. Same for the minuscule Wealth Tax.
This #MayDay, remember that these politicians aren't for the working class.
In advance of International Workers Day (May Day) on May 1st, I'm really pleased to share that @FoodShareTO has officially become a Living Wage Employer. From now on, no one at FoodShare will earn less than $22.08 per hour.

While Canadians rely on @VaxHuntersCan to get information about where to get vaccines, Indians are looking at crowd sourced information on where to get food, medicines and oxygen.
This is what #Covid19 inequity looks like on a global scale.
Very important detail!!! Taking Ford’s sick pay makes you ineligible for federal CRSB that week so if in those 3 days you find out you have #COVID19, you’re back to no pay! #onpoli
1/ A few points to clarify a few points...
These vaccines are really really good, but not perfect.
One dose of a vaccine provides excellent protection against #COVID19 infection, but of course 2 doses provide more protection.
Let’s compare the options:
NDP: 7 paid sick days + 14 days in a pandemic.
Liberals: 10 days of employer-provided paid sick days.
Conservatives: 3 days paid by the taxpayer.
This wasn't the best #PaidSickDays program in North America. It wasn't even the best program in Ontario.
Health care workers have staged what they are calling a "pop-up protest" at Queen's Park on Sunday to demand that the Ontario government take an evidence-based approach to dealing with the pandemic. https://t.co/ZOrlPJQ3cX
Nice to see our The Lancet paper has received broad coverage...it is in top 5% of all pubs ever ranked by Altmetric. The mostly positive feedback has been, yes #COVIDisAirborne. It is nice to see the clear evidence and now let’s acknowledge it worldwide and end this pandemic.
In light of recent events, several organizations have come together to host an event on policing, healthcare, and the path toward a better society.

The lineups in Scarborough are a reminder that racialized & low-income communities want vaccines. They just lack access because of an inequitable vaccine rollout.
✖️ Vaccine hesitant
✅ Vaccine confident + limited access
Reallocate vaccines to hotspots or people will die.
