After investigating the origin of the Marburg virus disease, it was discovered that fruit bats were responsible for its spread. The index case was found to have worked in a mine where these bats reside.

To address this, a wall has been installed in the mine to separate the working area from the bats' habitat. Additionally, a team of doctors has been deployed to monitor the health of the workers daily. Similar measures have been implemented in other mines where these bats are present. ~ Minister @NsanzimanaSabin
