dear micro twitter -- anyone aware of a quantitation of total lipid content as a function of growth rate in a model bacterium, e.g. in chemostat? bonus if individual lipids are measured too.

My friend and coauthor Floyd Nichols has been hard at work studying biomarkers in hypersaline sulfate-rich lakes to understand the preservation potential of organics on Earth and other planets. Check out his results in this preprint 👀🎉https://t.co/xpQzZsmT48

On average, $70,000 of salt is dumped into Lake Mendota every year.
[If you convert the mass of chloride in #LakeMendota to mass of NaCl, it's gaining about 825 tons of #salt a year. 2021 Dane County salt prices are $84 a ton.]
@JasonLaurendeau@dearsamwhite@cdchambs I would love to take a look at the syllabus as well, only if it’s not too much hassle! Would be a great resource for our outreach group focused on inclusive and equitable outdoor ed/rec 🙌🏻
I'm delighted to announce an opening for a postdoc at Penn State. Come join a great team, unlock mysteries with isotopes and organics from space, and be a part of the @OSIRISREx mission! ☄️

@hcratigan@weinberz I also loved transit in Chicago! Some neighborhoods are more bikeable than others but I biked around the north side (regular trips from Evanston to Rogers Park, Edgewater, and occasionally Logan) in all seasons without incident 🚲 & found drivers more attentive than in LA.
@NagissaM FWIW, we still use the Powersoil kit, but had to change some of our protocols—eg with the old kit we were able to lyse samples in LifeGuard, but with the new beads the lysis buffer is required. A Qiagen service rep helped us develop a better protocol…good luck! ☘️
