من أبرز كتبه المثيرة للجدل Daybreak Is Near (1996) وكتابه The Invention of Somalia (1995) و كتاب Diaspora Blues (2005) والعديد من الكتب والقصص والأدب والشعر وكان شديد الاهتمام في تحول الأدب الصومالي الشفهي إلى أدب مكتوب.
My congratulations and best wishes to mentor Nuruddin Farah on being awarded an honorary doctorate by SOAS.
I first read "From A Crooked Rib" - Nuruddin's debut first novel - while still a child in primary school and found it extremely captivating.
Big talent. Deserving of wider international recognition.
(Kenyan @MPyusufhassan is a close personal friend of Nuruddin and attended the award ceremony in London.)

Salutation Road takes its readers on a journey between London and Mogadishu through a "magical" tunnel that connects two dimensions and realities. Sirad and Ubah become the epitome of the existential "what if" that characterises much of the human experience.
The book is told
Primarily from Sirad's perspective. And Ubah's angle is not well articulated--a peripheral one. The novel's two sections, though complementary, could have been more interwoven. The 1st section has a leisurely pace to it. The 2nd one is hurried. So much was crammed that it was a
@suhaibMahmoud_ A decade ago, "من الصومال بالعربية" published an essay about this. Finally, we are hearing more about it. Thanks for bringing their stories to our attention.
@simonharries3 Trump, despite his xenophobia, appeals to many people's desire for a 'strong man' figure. As an African myself, African countries are either dictatorships or dysfunctional semi-democracies. People would rather have the stability of the former over the liberties of the latter.
