We were visited by the Let's Go Zero Climate Change Ambassadors on Tuesday and they were amazing to talk to. Lots of positive advice. Just looking forward to receiving the action plan report. @LetsGo_Zero
Our Year 4, 5 and 6 swimmers complete a course on personal survival as well as how to rescue someone in trouble in the water. These are life skills - how many other schools do this. If not why not? This is after all a serious Safeguarding concern...
This week, make it your mission to educate your family about @RLSSUK's #DrowningPreventionWeek ๐

Accidental drownings increase in summer and through education we can make a change! #DPW
Revelation time. I run courses for school and run meetings over the internet. Why didn't someone tell me this earlier - I can run a split screen on my laptop. Although, when I have run courses recently no-one can ask questions, at least I haven't been able to see their hands up.
I have been reflecting on the trips to the Normandy Beaches with Brill CE School. One year we were fortunate enough to be there on the 6th June and literally bumped into some veterans. They were just as thrilled as we were to meet each other. A truly memorable moment.
Weโre proud to be part of 3000 schools signed up to #LetsGoZero. Our pupils, teachers and parents are working to reduce emissions, increase biodiversity and safeguard our planet for future generations!
When we have taught our pupils in Years 1, 2 and 3 to swim, this life lesson is then taught to our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils as part of life saving and how to save a life.
#FloatToLive:
- Tilt your head back with ears submerged
- Relax - try to control your breathing
- Move your hands to help stay afloat
- Once over the initial shock, call for help or swim to safety
- Call 999 or 112 & ask for the coastguard.

๐ We're officially kicking off #BigWalkAndWheel, the UK's largest walking, wheeling, scooting, and cycling challenge. Looking forward to seeing all your #ActiveTravel journeys. ๐๐ https://t.co/c32uYp1yvA
Growing something for nothing. A pupil has come to let me know that they are trying to grow an apple seed that they have planted within a large pine cone and stuffed mud into it. I am looking forward to hearing what happens. @EcoSchools@FSAForestSchool

We are setting the challenge of growing something for nothing. We are trying to encourage positivity and maybe a little bit of awe and wonder by growing a plant from waste seeds that you may well have thrown away. @EcoSchools
I thought I had read somewhere - probably safeguarding guidance - that the child should be put at the center of everything that we do... Some schools might find that quite a challenging ethos to conform to.
@headscps Totally agree! Itโs become all about exam results for schools, itโs not about what the child wants but about whatโs best for the schools outcomes. There needs to be more options for individual needs.
I think the point should be that everyone is good at something and it is a school's job to find out what that is. The shame of it is when some teachers value some subjects over others. Who has the right to say what is important and what is not? Government - society?
Watching the David Beckham docu-series. Becks didnโt do well in school saying he isnโt intelligent? Much like Robbie Williams in his series, saying he was โthickโ. But they managed to turn their passions into successful careers? Why then do we tell kids school is so important?
We're participating in the 15th year celebration of @sustrans #BigWalkandWheel. In partnership with @SchwalbeUK, it's the UK's largest active travel to school challenge from 11-22 March 2024. Register your school here to join too: https://t.co/c32uYp1yvA
First Headteacher's Award of the Year - Bruno D (Year 6) for being such a fantastic young person. I am so proud that the decision was so hard to make - there are so many deserving pupils.
