@DYShor he did what he had too, the oil reserves are dwindling and there was no easy way to open the strait safely for ships to pass, we should have never dropped the first bomb.
@LSK94LH@gummibear737 Easy, insurers won’t cover the ships with a threat of being blown up. No insurance then no crossing the strait. You don’t need a military to do that. Just small arms, speed boats and drones. This has been war gamed for years and we had zero plan for it.
@TonerousHyus@hipsterdufus84 What happens if the strait stays closed or they close it again after we remove our forces? Then what? Never should have dropped the first bomb with the way this planned. Total disaster.
@legitbrittFLA When they close the strait again and our reserves dwindle the cheap gas is gone. Why do you think we made a deal. Trump said himself we have 4 weeks left.
@SuitablePolitic I’m worried they weaponize the strait from this day forward to get what they want and more of it. What’s stopping them from closing it once we pull our forces and navy out? Then we are screwed. Hopefully the GCC enforce it but they showed little fight previously.
@sethjlevy Agree, but now they know the strait can we a great weapon for them. We should have never dropped the first bomb... they can close that strait and drive up prices whenever they want and we can't do anything about it, we just proved that.
@jwsherrod Maybe not drop bombs without a plan or coalition to deal with it, that should have been planned out long before the first bomb was dropped. It has been war gamed for years and years and a known thing they would do in any big conflict with the US.
@sethjlevy My concern is the strait has now been proven to be more powerful than any nuclear weapon. They can just wait for us to pull out and then close it again, then all the low cost oil is gone.
@realTomPappert@bonchieredstate What happens when Iran refuses to open the strait now or they wait until our forces come home and close it then? They now know how powerful it is.
@SuitablePolitic My concern is this, if they decide to keep the stait closed or close it at anytime from now on what happens, especially if we move our forces out. Then we are all screwed. They can take the money and close it anytime they want too.
@bonchieredstate Here is the thing, Trump does want a recession going into midterms so he caved in. We had no plan for the closing of the strait and now we have given them that as a weapon anytime they want it.. What stops them from taking the money and keeping it closed or charging fees?
