SEVENTEEN’s Vernon on how K-pop is now becoming more like American pop:
— “I feel like K-pop sounds more and more like American pop instead of K-pop. I think a lot of people talk about that too. It makes me want to go back to the 2000s and early 2010s, when I was in elementary school, with Wonder Girls, BIGBANG, and 2NE1. I think it’s because K-pop producers always try to bring American sounds into K-pop and make them their own.”
granted this is pure conjecture but if you grew up with older kpop generations of course you’d think it sounded different when it didn’t sound like the songs on the radio. thinking 2000s-2010s kpop had more of an identity is just a remnant of that first impression
