I just saw a video that said that men and women psychologically rate their pain differently. If you're in an ER, and ask a man to rate his pain, between 1-10, he'll base that assessment on the spectrum of his actual experience with pain. 9 out of 10 of the worst pain he's ever experienced.

Women however, will rate their pain based off of pain they haven't experienced. Rate between 1-10...well 10 would be being burned alive. They imagine the worse possible scenario, and make that their 10. I'm not being burned alive, so like a 6, or 7.

I had to check with my husband on how he would rate it, and now we are both laughing at each other.

thinking about the difference between fandom and consumerdom and realising that’s been the major shift over the last few years, that fandom used to be mostly creative (art, fics, theories, discussions) and now it’s inherently consumptive (demands, entitlement, discourse, hate)

A lot of ppl are taught to put commas where they would pause/breathe in a sentence as an introductory step in elementary/middle school, and they only retain that part, not the part they learn later about clauses and sentence structure :/

writing, and all art, is just an endeavor towards the artist's highest creative vision. sometimes that creative vision does not align with what the audience wants to consume.

critique should help the artist achieve their vision, but fandom confuses critiquing with complaining

literally every fic i've ever written was born out of "god i can't believe no one's written this yet what the hell"
