A rule of thumb: whenever the international media suddenly fills up with stories quoting anonymous senior Kremlin sources insisting that Russia isn't even thinking about stopping, that Ukraine's front is just about to collapse, that Russia is stronger than ever, its economy is booming so much Putin is considering nukes and invading the Baltics, and that all those strikes on its oil industry and the resulting fuel collapse have only made Russians even more determined to wage war forever like Tsar Peter...

...it usually means the Russians have just gotten their asses handed to them somewhere.

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board tears apart Trump’s tariffs in a blistering editorial:

“The President is right that his tariffs are at work—in destroying U.S. jobs and raising prices. The U.S. has lost some 75,000 manufacturing jobs since January 2025, including 25,900 in motor vehicle and parts production...

there’s no question his tariffs are raising costs for U.S. manufacturers.…Mr. Trump and his advisers claim that foreigners pay his border taxes, but the evidence shows that U.S. companies, workers and consumers are picking up most of the tab.

The Anderson Economic Group estimates that auto tariffs on Canada and Mexico alone added about $1,600 to the cost of each car made in the U.S. last year. While auto makers absorbed some of the Trump tariff costs, they also passed on a large share to customers…Call it the Trump tax.”

Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.
