How I’m spending my Saturday night. So excited to have my hands on this amazing resource!! Can’t wait to implement it in my classroom! 🙌🏼 @growrdsb@UFLiteracy
Today we read the story "Pass it Along" by Sophy Henn. We discussed that there are times where people don't always feel happy or good and that we need to search for the positive things. We brainstormed the silver linings of learning from home and are passing them along! @wrdsb
Today we did a visualizing activity! First, stufents only heard the title “My Neighbour’s Dog is Purple” by Jack Prelutsky. Then students heard the first half of the poem. Finally, they heard the last part of the poem… any guesses what the neighbour’s “dog” actually is?! 💜
So incredibly proud of the growth of each student’s writing. Today we talked about adding even more detail to our pictures. I got so carried away conferencing with students that these were the only pictures I took! A hot topic was the freshly fallen snow ❄️☃️
Today we learned about the poppy. We also learned about the symbol for peace, a dove. Students used their fingers in paint to create the poppies and then shared another idea of peace. 🕊 #RemembranceDay2021
Today we read “Leaf Man” by Lois Ehlert. We loved the creativity of the illustrations and recognized many of the animals created by leaves. Students collected leaves & other items from nature to create their very own leaf “thing”. Students wrote about where their character went!
We are adding 2 new activities to our math centres! Today, we learned how to do the activities.
1. Roll a die and add that many pompoms to circle #1. Repeat for #2. Add the pompoms together to get your total!
2. Spill a cup of 10 chips. Place them on a ten frame to make 10!
Students were directed to make a rod of 10 cubes using 2 different colours. Then, students created an addition sentence that makes 10 using the amount of each colour in their rod. Example: 3 orange + 7 green = 10.
Today we read “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything”. We shared in the reading together and included actions to help remember the order of events. Next, we completed a cut/paste activity to retell the story. Finally, we wrote about something we aren’t afraid of.
