Character. Trump has possibly the worst character we’ve ever seen, but people overlooked it and voted for his policies. Now we have our current situation. If someone has poor character, you can’t trust them to enforce any of the policies they promise.
Maybe one day we’ll get an average character average policy candidate. I would take that at this point.
Sadly, I don’t think people on either side care too much about actual policy. But if you’re up for an actual good faith conversation, I’ll bite:
Democrats introduced the Medicare Cost Cap Act in June. A broad overview:
-establish a $5,000 annual ceiling on out-of-pocket costs for people with traditional Medicare Part A and Part B.
-Funding: The bill is still being negotiated and discussed, but suggestions for funding include:
-negotiating lower prescription drug costs to reduce government spending
-increasing taxes on the ultra wealthy and large corporations
-reducing excessive payments from Medicare Advantage and incorrect billing.
There’s a thing called a correlation causation fallacy on full display here. Red states having higher birth rates than blue states can be due to a multitude of factors (many of them NOT good including lack of access to birth control, healthcare and requirements for abstinence-only sex education)
Plus, the statistical comparison is using share of Trump votes in 2024 and correlating it to birth rates since 1990.
Also, the chart on the right shows population of children and has nothing to do with fertility rates 🙄
Ok at least properly present the data.
1. The first map image (LOOK AT THE FOOTNOTE) shows the correlation between the share of TRUMP VOTES and percent change in fertility rate. They are pulling data from 1990 to make a political point.
2. The second image is literally just child POPULATION. Zero to do with birth rates.
It’s all just political propaganda AND it’s unnecessary to manipulate the data because there ARE higher birth rates in red vs blue states (not necessarily for good reason though). Just make honest arguments for once.
