🍺 PUBS UNDER PRESSURE - BREAKING NEWS 🍺

Last week Cornwall was told it would lose Doom Bar's brewery. Today Burton-upon-Trent is told Marston’s is closing after brewing in the market town since 1834.

These are massive blows to those communities, where breweries have employed locals for decades.

Operating costs have shot up due to crazy energy bills, employer taxes and rates. But it’s also part of a bigger hospitality crisis.

Cask ale depends on the pub trade, which has been under the same massive pressures. Even if a pub looks packed, it's likely the landlord is finding it way harder to make profit because costs are up and punters are spending differently.

That’s why at our conference this week we’ve focused on getting those costs down:

📉 Cutting energy costs with our Cheap Power Plan
🧾 Halving employer NI for 21–24-year-olds
🛍️ Taking most of the high street out of business rates
🚛 Stopping the New Year fuel duty hike that will push up delivery costs

Get the economics wrong, and we all know we lose way more than breweries, pubs, and pints. This is as much about history, community, culture and friendship.
