Billy Corgan defended his longtime friendship with Marilyn Manson in a new interview with Popcast.

"In his case, and I'm not here to adjudicate it, but the DA looked at the case for five years. In some cases, I knew personal things behind the scenes that are not in the public sphere. I personally didn't feel that he was guilty of the things he was being charged with, and ultimately, the fact that the DA didn't pursue it. So, basically, the person that I knew and the way it all kind of went down, even though it was an elongated process, was commensurate with the person that I knew."

“I don’t really get invited to be a part of things like the NFL anymore, or any of those events. All the late-night shows where I was so friendly with everyone over the years— from my friend Jimmy Kimmel to Jimmy Fallon — I don’t really get invited on there anymore either. But who’s to say that won’t change? And honestly, I don’t care.

“I did think about this before I entered the political arena, but I thought it was important for me to speak up for what I believe in. At the end of the day, I put my country before pretty much everything except my family and God.”
