Nigerian Qur’an Memoriser Wins Prestigious Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award, Receives N11 Million Prize
Alhamdulillah, Nigeria was honoured on the international stage when Sulaiman Abdulkarim Isah emerged as the overall winner of the prestigious Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award (DIHQA) during its 18th edition held in Dubai.
Competing against outstanding Qur’an memorizers from several countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, the United States, and Bangladesh, the Nigerian Hafiz secured the top position in the international category through his exceptional memorisation and recitation of the Noble Qur’an.
As part of the award, he received a grand prize of AED 250,000 (approximately ₦11 million at the time), a recognition of his dedication to preserving the words of Allah and striving for excellence in Qur’anic studies.
The Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award is one of the world's most respected Qur’anic competitions and is organized annually during the blessed month of Ramadan under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The competition brings together distinguished Huffaz and reciters from across the globe, celebrating devotion to the Qur’an and encouraging the younger generation to remain connected to the Book of Allah.
This remarkable achievement stands as a testament to Nigeria’s rich legacy of Qur’anic scholarship and serves as an inspiration to Muslims everywhere.
