Cartoonist Atena Farghadani has been sentenced to six years in prison (five years mandatory if upheld), two months after her arrest outside Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s compound and subsequent torture by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. She was tried at Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court on charges of "insulting the sacred and propaganda against the state,” her lawyer Mohammad Moghimi announced on X.

“Atena Farghadani has been targeted for her courageous defiance against the Islamic Republic’s repression,” said CHRI Executive Director Hadi Ghaemi. “The international community, especially artistic communities, must demand her immediate release.”

An Iranian woman, lashed 74 times for defying the hijab law, is now a hero to millions.

#Roya_Heshmati, a Kurdish woman, was punished with 74 lashes for protesting the mandatory hijab. Defiantly, she refused to wear it even during her punishment. Her story is echoing across Iranian social media.

During her ordeal, she sang powerfully: "In the name of women, in the name of life, the chains of slavery have been torn apart."

The killing of a large number of citizens, including children, in the terrorist explosions in Kerman - for which ISIS has taken responsibility - is another sign of the destruction and cannibalism of Islamic Jihad on the one hand, and the incompetence and worthlessness of the Islamic Republic on the other hand. ISIS and the Islamic Republic are two sides of the same, Islamic fundamentalist coin.

The Islamic Republic is a machine of death and misery even for its supporters. The lives, wealth and security of Iranians are of no importance to the Islamic Republic, which could have spent the country's resources on the well-being and security of Iranians, and to prevent the operations of jihadi terrorists in our country. Instead it harasses women and youth, trains and supplies Islamist terrorists around the world, and tortures and kills freedom fighters and patriots.

This regime not only massacres, terrorizes, and suppresses its opponents— the majority of Iranian people— but it is also unable to provide security for its few supporters. Supporters of this incompetent and criminal regime should join the majority of the Iranian nation in its opposition to the Islamic Republic, for even they will have an even better life in a free Iran.

The solution is clear: overthrowing this evil regime, returning Iran to the path of progress and civilization, and providing security and freedom for all Iranians under the rule of law.

جمهوری اسلامی حتی برای حامیانش نیز ماشین مرگ و فلاکت است. جان و مال و امنیت ایرانیان برای فقها و پاسداران‌شان ارزشی ندارد که اگر داشت امکانات کشور را صرف رفاه و ‌امنیت ایرانیان، و جلوگیری از عملیات تروریست‌های جهادی در کشور می‌کردند؛ و نه هزینه آزار و اذیت زنان و جوانان، تعلیم و تامین تروریست‌های اسلامگرا در سراسر جهان، و شکنجه و کشتار آزادی‌خواهان و ایرانگرایان.

این رژیم نه تنها مخالفان خود را که اکثریت مردم ایران هستند، قتل عام و ترور و سرکوب می‌کند، که از تامین امنیت معدود موافقان خود نیز عاجز است. توصیه من به دسته دوم این است که به خیل عظیم ایرانیان آزادیخواه بپیوندید که در یک ایران آزاد و آباد حتی شما و فرزندان‌تان نیز امنیت و زندگی بهتری خواهید داشت.

راه حل روشن است: پایین کشیدن این رژیم شیطانی؛ بازگرداندن قطار ایران به ریل ترقی و تمدن؛ و تامین امنیت و آزادی برای همه ایرانیان در سایه حکومت قانون.

Armita Garavand, a young Iranian girl assaulted by the morality police for refusing to wear the mandatory hijab, has been declared brain dead.

It seems the Islamic regime, having observed the public’s reaction to the tragic murder of Jina Mahsa Amini, has learned to manage public sentiment. That’s why the Iranian regime’s media outlets announced the news after days of uncertainty, during which her family was not even permitted to know about their daughter’s situation.

This regime excels at suppressing and killing women, all while negotiating and forging ties with Western politicians. How many more innocent girls need to perish before Western countries realize that this regime is irredeemable? This is the very regime that not only oppresses its citizens but also instigates unrest in Ukraine, Israel, Iraq, and Syria. After decades of atrocities by this totalitarian Islamic regime, the world must finally take a stand and hold them accountable.

The international community must take action immediately and ask the Islamic Republic that why they arrested Armita Gravabd’s mother while her daughter is fighting for her life in a coma, after being beaten up by morality police.
Armita was transferred to a military hospital in Tehran which has been surrounded by security forces.
Her father said he has no information about Armita.
