BREAKING: HELL YES! Governor Gavin Newsom proposes a federal billionaire tax in a bold new announcement — sending the MAGA oligarchs into a tailspin.

And it gets even better...

"It's time for a national billionaire's tax and a new social contract. Think about this, just 10% of people, 10% of people in this country own two-thirds of the wealth," Newsom said in a video posted to X. "A 30-year-old, for the first time in American history, is not doing better than his or her parents. That's a five-alarm fire."

The governor is planting his flag on this issue as the Democratic Party convulses to redefine itself. Left-wing candidates are ascendant because the base is clamoring for genuinely progressive policies. Zohran Mamdani is leading the charge on this leftward shift and the recent successes of his endorsed candidates in the New York primaries is proof positive that voters are responding. Democratic Socialism is no longer a scary phrase.

We can either retreat into the same centrist ideology that allowed Trump to seize the White House not only once but twice, or we can embrace a more equitable vision of the future and start fighting for the working class. Republicans will call us "communists" but they do that anyway. Ignore the labels they sling and focus on winning elections with populist policy proposals.

“The system America’s founders built was designed to prevent the concentration of power in a few hands, but we have allowed that concentration to happen anyway, slowly, in plain sight, over decades,” Newsom stated. “We can reverse it together, as a country.”

He's calling for an "economic reset for America," demonstrating that he's willing to listen to voters clamoring for change as he considers a 2028 presidential campaign.

And the he American people are clearly furious with the status quo...

We are being forced to watch as sociopaths like Elon Musk (who is a trillionaire now) gobble up more and more wealth while working class families struggle to afford rent, basic groceries, and healthcare. Income inequality at these extreme levels is unsustainable.

Newsom's proposal would institute a minimum tax on anyone with a net worth above $100 million so that they pay, at the very least, the same rate as an average American worker. Under our current skewed tax system, some of them pay lower rates than people far poorer than them.

The governor also warned that the plutocratic inheritance laws currently on the books could "lock in a permanent American aristocracy of inherited wealth" if nothing is done.

The governor pointed specifically to the rise of artificial intelligence to bolster his proposal. He said that the new technology will dramatically reshape our economic system and so a “national public equity fund” should be distributed to every American, rather than simply allowing the tech lords and corporations to hoard even more wealth and power. That money could be used to help displaced workers, provide childcare, education, and healthcare.

"We're nearing the 250th anniversary of this country's revolution. The system the American founders built, well, was designed to prevent the concentration of power in a few hands," said Newsom. "But we've allowed that concentration to happen anyway, slowly and in plain sight over the course of decades and decades. But we can reverse it. We can reverse it together."

"It's time to democratize the American economy, to save our democracy," he concluded.

Newsom's support for this federal billionaire tax comes after he vowed to veto a California ballot proposal to institute a one-time tax on residents with a net worth above $1 billion. He explained that such a tax would just prompt those billionaires to flee to other states. The only real solution, as he sees is it, is to tax them at the federal level so that they can't simply jump over the border to a neighborring state.

“We’re competing with 50 states. Capital flows and move(s). That’s real. It’s not imagined. It’s very, very real," he previously said at the World Economic Forum.

Iran is not defined by a regime which only exists because the CIA installed a Shah who ran a monarchic autocracy which led to the rise of religious fundamentalism and ultimately the Islamic revolution of 1979.

Why did the US install him? Because the democratically elected government that ousted him in 1951 nationalised Iranian oil for the benefit of the Iranian people.

Iran is NOT defined by the monsters for whom the US created a permissive environment to create a an Islamic terrorist state. The U.S. and British governments did this, NOT the people of Iran.

Once we define a nation by the actions of their leaders we create another permissive environment for genocide just as we did in Gaza and now in Lebanon.

Iran is a beautiful country steeped in ancient history which has seen them repel invaders time and time again. It’s estimated that just 20% of the population support the regime, yet the US and Israel has deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure.

Hundreds of hospitals and schools have been destroyed as well as cultural sites and energy generation facilities. This is NOT a holy war as Trump would have you believe, it’s just another war prosecuted by greedy white men in search of geopolitical power and wealth.

Just as it was in 1951 when they actively destroyed democracy to install a dictator, they think they can now deliver new regime change in installing a new monarchic leader in the form of Trump working from home to control Iranian oil.

This has NOTHING to do with liberating the Iranian people, Trump is more than happy to deal with a repressive regime as long as they do his bidding and pay a licensing fee to him personally into his Qatari bank account.

The problem is, he’s picked on the wrong regime. A regime able to call on centuries of lived experience of invaders. They have no intention of fighting a conventional war, for them it’s about asymmetric warfare. They can instigate attack anywhere in the world to attack American interests. They’ve just chosen not to push that button YET.

Trump is out of his league and now desperate for an off-ramp. Iran are more than happy to provide one, but the cost will be crippling both politically and economically.

This is the biggest political and military failure in American history. Not because the U.S. military underperformed, they have been outstanding as one would have expected. They’ve carried out their orders to the letter. The question remains however, did they carry out illegal orders? Only time will tell.

There is little question that Trump as Commander in Chief, may well find himself accused of war crimes and or crimes against humanity. Once again, time will deliver a verdict on that.

Every day the US remains in this war costs billions and Trump’s popularity dips ever further. He’s on political life support already, but it’s the lies that are killing him.

He’s up against a smart enemy better at social media than him, who are more than prepared to wait him out, because every day he remains in this quagmire is another nail in his coffin.

He’s spent his entire life expecting someone to clean up the mess he leaves behind. That’s why he’s lashing out at allies and threatening to leave NATO. He’s a man in quicksand without a plan and no exit strategy.

Even when he has nowhere to turn he can’t help his self enrichment gag reflex kicking in as he considers a ‘joint venture’ with Iran to share the proceeds of tolls on ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz.

He’s also embedded Kushner and Witkoff into proceedings to ensure he gets a cut of any reconstruction contracts that might arise as a result of what he’s destroyed.

Just as Hitler became delusional in his bunker when it was all over, Trump is facing the same fate. The lies, the twisted narratives, the fantasy that the people believe in him is all part of a cancer that is eating him alive.

When he’s gone, if America does not hunt down and jail his enablers, I fear there is no hope and no better tomorrow.

Professor Mohammad Marandi told Al Mayadeen that Iran sees no point in negotiating while the United States is "preparing a land offensive."

Marandi stressed that talks will only happen once the #US defeat becomes undeniable, "and that time is approaching."

He also warned that a global economic crisis is already emerging and will intensify in the coming weeks, increasing pressure on the US, but for now, Marandi said that, escalation is theirs, and Iran "will punish them".

BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV throws MAGA world into a Sunday rage by urging every Catholic in the world to help and care for immigrants just days after slamming Donald Trump's cruel policies.

This pope REALLY doesn't care about ruffling right-wing feathers...

Leo called on Catholics to "open our arms and hearts to them, welcoming them as brothers and sisters, and being for them a presence of consolation and hope."

The remarks were delivered to a crowd of thousands who were inside St. Peter's Square at the Vatican for Sunday Mass. It was part of event organized for migrants which attracted some 10,000 pilgrims from 95 countries. The Church’s message on immigration is clearly resounding around the world.

The pope stated that migrants cannot be treated with "the coldness of indifference or the stigma of discrimination."

Leo went on to call for "a new missionary age" in which the church will offer "hospitality and welcome, compassion and solidarity" to all of those migrants who are fleeing from violence or searching for a safe new home for themselves or the families.

"In the communities of ancient Christian tradition, such as those of the West, the presence of many brothers and sisters from the world's South should be welcomed as an opportunity, through an exchange that renews the face of the Church," he said.

While he didn’t mention the United States or Donald Trump specifically, taken in the context of his past remarks it’s clear who and what he was pushing back against today. Last week, he enraged MAGA supporters by espousing the true teachings of Jesus Christ.

“Someone who says, ‘I’m against abortion,’ but says ‘I’m in favor of the death penalty,’ is not really pro-life,” the pope told reporters. “Someone who says that, ‘I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who are in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life."

Republicans have quickly come to despise Pope Leo because he dispels the lie that they tell themselves: They are not “Christian” in any meaningful sense of the word. They have draped themselves in Christian aesthetics and signifiers while adopting a cruel, fascist worldview that is antithetical to the love, compassion, and selflessness taught by Christ. Pope Leo sees right through them.
