@dieworkwear@47_Ronin1@RodKahx Because usage has conferred a quality, nuance and feeling to the word over time that is not reflected in the strict definition, which the affected community - the military - now expects. It’s the same reason we don’t call Indigenous ceremonial garb a “costume”: it is regalia.
The collaborative music video from Swedish rapper Yung Lean and GENER8ION transcends the boundaries of a regular music video — it’s an extraordinary visual feast. The choreography was created by the legendary French choreographer Damien Jalet.
@RE_DailyMail I assume the “bump into” is a joke! There are no surprises on royal state visits. Organizers often group up people they want the Royal to meet at venues. Is SJP affiliated with literacy/the library? Loved seeing the protection folks running down the stairs and then retreating!
@CraigBaird The seaway was opened in 1959 by Queen Elizabeth, President Eisenhower and PM Diefenbaker. I have always felt sad about these vanished villages and Indigenous land - forever lost to human progress. Here is an NFB film about the opening

@twitandrewking@Burnuts Yes, that is the original bell for sure! However, we have been told that it will not be returned - it is too closely associated with the municipality of Nepean, and besides the bell is too old and apparently damaged. We will need to find a new one for the old Nepean Townhall.
@twitandrewking I thought the nuns took the bell with them … They took everything and painted over the walls- which had been decorated - before they left.
@DimitrisSoudas Let’s add that this wonderful portrait was painted by Phil Richards who also did the Queens Diamond Jubilee portrait. PM Harper got one of our best portrait painters! Phil does his research and can work with governments and institutions.
@twitandrewking Oh! You need to read Canadian Louise Penny‘s novel Bury Your Dead” on exactly this topic. It is one of her Armand Gama crime novels, and a real smashing one that focusses on the muder of someone who is searching for Xhamplains tomb
@TheCinesthetic Hmmm. They are background actors not “extras” this was of course expensive because it was done in one take. I can’t see background actors being allowed to be knocked down - usually they would have been stunt peoole and placed ther deliberately. But you you never know!
