At my big age, I had to uninstall some learning that my parents installed in 2001.

Completely outdated.

Even as long as a decade ago, I remember meeting my manager for the first time downstairs in our building, and I insisted on helping her carry her bag upstairs. She refused!!!!!!!!

I also remember finding it difficult to call my senior colleagues by their first name.

I had to get a stern warning before my head became correct.

There was also the case of me insisting on running errands for colleagues 😣😣😣

How will they take me seriously? Ehn?

All that home training is great, but know when they don’t apply; bin them.

– get a pap smear
– do a pelvic exam
– go for a breast scan
– do a hormonal profile
– screen regularly for STIs
– don’t ignore pain during sex
– do monthly breast self-exams
– incorporate probiotics in your diet
– get the HPV & Hepatitis B vaccine (if you haven’t already)
– pay attention to changes in your discharge or smell.

This year I witnessed something that has refused to leave my mind.

A man I know in Abuja, had the biggest opportunity of his career. A real, life changing deal. The kind that can move you and your family into a new chapter forever. He prepared for weeks. Studied every detail my team and I even assisted him to put some structures in place. He rehearsed every answer. He was ready.

Then the morning of the meeting…..everything fell apart.

His fiancée started a fight.
Something small. Something that could have waited.
But it did not.

Texts. Long calls. Voice notes. Accusations. Tears.
Threats to leave. Demands for attention.
Emotional warfare on the one morning he desperately needed peace.

He kept saying, “Please. I have a very important meeting. Let me handle this when I get back”.

It did not stop.

By the time he walked into the boardroom, he was already finished.

He was late, his eyes were tired, mind scattered and a heavy heart.
He called me, I was like “guy how far, goodnews?”

He said “Slim I need your help, I am in trouble”
My man couldn’t even put himself together….. lover boy.

He tried to speak but the confidence was gone.
He forgot things he knew by heart.
He was not the man they believed in.
He was simply a man trying to hold himself together.

And right there…. the deal slipped away.

Afterwards he called. I went to the venue. He sat in silence afterwards. Phone still buzzing. But he just stared at it. No anger. No reaction. Just that empty look people get when they finally realize how expensive emotional chaos can be.

Not expensive in money.
Expensive in destiny.

Sometimes the biggest threat to your future is not the competition.
It is the constant storm in your personal life.

Peace is not luxury.
Peace is focus.
Peace is clarity.
Peace is survival.

He is going into 2026 starting from zero again. Not because he was lazy. Not because he was unprepared.

But because the one person who should have protected his focus….. became the reason he lost it.

Love should steady you.
Not drain you.
Not shake your mind before the moment that matters most.

Choose partners who understand timing.
Choose partners who respect your work.
Choose partners who do not pick the worst possible moment to pull you into emotional chaos.

Because sometimes…. one argument at the wrong time
Can cost you the opportunity you waited your whole life to meet.
