NEW: Israeli prosecutors are moving to file charges against Yinon Levi, the settler terrorist who shot and murdered Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen in the West Bank village of Umm al-Khair last year.

Levi will face charges of reckless manslaughter, trespassing, and malicious damage to property, carrying a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.

This is rare and meaningful news for Awdah's family and the community of Umm al-Khair. In a landscape where legal accountability for settler terrorism in the West Bank is virtually nonexistent, pushing an indictment through represents a crucial step forward.

While reckless-manslaughter charges do not amount to full justice for Awdah’s murder, they are better than no justice at all.
