They took her bad reaction to Zoloft as evidence she was bipolar (despite her having no history of mania and previously screening negative). They gave her more drugs.

And why would she keep trying the other pills too? The ones that don’t get you high (which was most of them)?

Lindsay believed Seroquel was making her really depressed. Numb. Unlike herself. Her prescribers (again) attributed her symptoms to an underlying illness and continued raising the dose, eventually from 25 mg to as much as 400 mg before McLean tapered her off.

Then came amitriptyline. After reacting badly to every previous SSRI, she was started on an older tricyclic antidepressant just eight days before the killings. The day before the killings, her instructions called for doubling the dose.

Almost every step of the way, the prescribers did the wrong thing.
