Also, you know whiteness is a sliding scale/"spectrum" and I don't mean just skin tone; I mean ethnicity. so you could be Indian (subcontinental) and still be "White." You could claim to be Jewish.

They were from Alabama, fair complexioned with "Black features," pretended to be White, and moved to Florida, living as White women for the rest of their lives. Never got found out. That's "White-passing."

People that pass disavow their heritage; people that pass know they are Black but choose to be White in a place where they are not known for being Black.
