We’d like to wish our clients a Happy New Year & thanks for your support. We’ve loved working on your projects & look forward to many more. We hope 2025 brings fantastic things to you all. Michael, Caroline & Liz (and our 4 little historians, including the one with mucky socks)🥂
It’s a very busy day - I’m having my annual Zoom meeting with Santa (aka wrapping up all our presents!) And I’m all set in our little library with chocolates, mulled tea and wine 🥂
Been going through old family photos of my own. I’m creating a family tree for myself because … shock horror … I don’t already have one!!!! My granddad was a policeman from Mirfield but it’s easy to see why people used to mistake him for a ‘60s Hollywood actor, Lorne Green!
We ❤️ finding ancestors with famous connections such as the couple who were married in Haworth by Rev. Patrick Brontë, father of the Brontë sisters. He also baptised their children, so our ancestors were clearly well acquainted with this literary family! ⭐️
We recently found this review of Michael’s book, Georgian Recipes and Remedies, in Petits Propos Culinaires by food expert and broadcaster, Tom Jaine! 🤩👨🍳📚
We have some new additions to our own family … Chloe and Glowsticks! They have no interest in genealogy whatsoever (🤷♀️) but they are incredibly cute 🥰
It’s not long until Christmas!! 🎄🎁 If any of our previous clients would like an AMAZING gift for a special family member, ask us about purchasing a copy of your family history report, personalised just for them! [email protected]
I always love finding aptronyms. This week I’ve been researching an ancestor named Mr. Bowley. He was a professional cricketer! 🏏 (Disappointingly, he was a batsman.)
We’ve been reading a report from a court case which took place in 1885. During a heated debate, one of the jurors was accused of talking “unworthy twaddle” and I think I’ll be making good use of that phrase from now on!
Today we received a slightly disturbing Victorian marriage certificate. It confirmed that the bride was the groom’s niece! She had married her uncle 🤢 AND her mother (the groom’s sister) signed the register as a witness!
