ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಮೊದಲ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸೇರಿ ಸುಮಾರು 50 ಪ್ರಕಾಶನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ 3,000ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಗಳ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರಾಟವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸುಕ್ರಿ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಜಾನಪದ ಹಾಡುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ಹಾಲಕ್ಕಿ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜಾನಪದ ಗೀತೆಗಳ ಗಣಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಈಕೆಗೆ 2017ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

In the realm of RSS, we always refrain from glorifying personalities. Such actions can be detrimental to the organization’s culture. However, when a video clip about this dedicated RSS volunteer Babu Devadiga began circulating in some WhatsApp groups, I felt compelled to share his swayamsevakathva (volunteerism), which could inspire many. I worked with him closely for almost a decade in that region.

Shri Babu Devadiga, affectionately known as Babanna, hailed from Bramhavara in Udupi. For decades, he remained a steadfast Sangh Karyakartha (RSS functionary), serving selflessly as the long-time Jilla Karyavah (District secretary) of Udupi district.

Babanna’s humble origins came from a small community. He worked as a clerk in a Christian missionary school. His personal life reflected courage and conviction, including his decision to marry across castes at a time when such choices were rare.

His life was characterized by extraordinary commitment. For nearly four decades, he traveled 20-25 days a month across the villages of Udupi, tirelessly nurturing RSS work at the grassroots level. He may have visited thousands of families. He had friends from all walks of life, including different castes, faiths, and economic backgrounds.

Despite battling multiple co-morbidities for the past decade, his mind and heart remained deeply rooted in RSS and other social activities in the town.

Such was his devotion that on his very last day, he insisted on making his Gurudakshina (offering a portion of our earnings to the well-being of society, which all RSS volunteers do every year on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima). With the support of his daughter, he made this offering in the morning, and by evening, he peacefully departed from this world.

A Life of Dedication - Babanna was truly the epitome of a samarpith swayamsevak (dedicated social worker). He served with humility and dedication until his final breath. Throughout his over five decades in public life, he never complained about anyone or anything, regardless of life’s challenges. His life remains a shining example of tyag (sacrifice), tapasya (penance), and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Sangh.

1940 ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 13ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟೀಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕ ಸಂಘದ ಮೊದಲ ಶಾಖೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭ ಆಯಿತು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣಕರ್ತರು ವಕೀಲ ಸಂಜೀವ ಕಾಮತರು. ಇವರು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕಾಪುವಿನ ಕಲ್ಯಾದವರು.

राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ गत 99 वर्षों से सतत राष्ट्र के पुनर्निर्माण एवं समाज की सेवा में संलग्न है। राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा, एकता-अखंडता एवं प्राकृतिक आपदा के समय में समाज को साथ लेकर संघ के योगदान के चलते समय-समय पर देश के विभिन्न प्रकार के नेतृत्व ने संघ की भूमिका की प्रशंसा भी की है।
अपने राजनीतिक स्वार्थों के चलते तत्कालीन सरकार द्वारा शासकीय कर्मचारियों को संघ जैसे रचनात्मक संगठन की गतिविधियों में भाग लेने के लिए निराधार ही प्रतिबंधित किया गया था।शासन का वर्तमान निर्णय समुचित है और भारत की लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था को पुष्ट करने वाला है।
