Why has Action SA only nominated one person on their PR lists?

Mashaba in Joburg. Moya in Tshwane etc.

Where is the rest of their PR list? They won't win any wards. All of their councillors will come from the PR lists.

When a political party submits only one name on their PR list, as ActionSA does it means one thing.

They dont trust their people. They dont create a full ranking of PR candidates because their internal process arent trusted. And candidates will leave if ranked unfavorably.

So they release one PR candidate and then only the ward candidates. The ward candidates then campaign and when no candidate succeeds out pops a PR list just after the election that no one has seen.

None of their ward candidates are on that list. ActionSA did the same thing in the last election. Their Soweto ward candidates worked tirelessly, didnt get elected and then none of them were on the PR list.

It's a horrible way to use people for votes and hide from transparency. It also suggests you dont trust your own candidates.

Also shows how despite being in operation for over 5 years, ActionSA has not created a transparent and fair way of creating a PR list that they trust.

The IEC should not allow this, they should demand a minimum number of PR candidates be nominated per city.

Dear Mr Mashaba

It is not about Zille. It's also not about you. It is about ActionSA's voters. Your decision not to share a space with her personalises ActionSA's affairs. You aren't ActionSA and ActionSA isn't you. Or is it? If you were invited to a tea party and Zille was a fellow invitee, by all means your choice would be acceptable. But you are placing your party at a disadvantage. It means Zille can now dominate the share of voice while you nurse your ailing ego. Besides, it is childish to make such a decision. Politics is about self-interest and it is indeed in your party's interest to claim its share of voice or Zille, being a smart politician she is, will accept all the invites where both of you have been invited to truly dominate and hopefully outperform you. Maintaining such an ill-considered decision is also a forewarning - voters must be warned about your inability to surmount your ego and work with others, when our current politics demand coalitions.
