Priti Patel’s Home Office wants to make it a crime for journalists to embarrass the govt by publishing leaked official documents. The maximum penalty would be 14 years in prison. This would put British journalists on a par with foreign spies.

It could've brought in a legally enforceable ban but chose to ratify a policy 'banning' disposable barbecues that has no teeth - it's no more than asking people not to do it and it's limited to its land not swathes of Dorset countryside.

@ruskin147 Perhaps it's like the 'five minute warning' for kids when they need to leave the playground. You tell them in advance what's going to happen, so when it does happen, it's no surprise, and (in theory) there's no major tantrum!
