i think that by the time our generation has accepted this new ideal of teenagers, there will be a whole new revolution that will take even more time to accept. this constant gap is challenging to overcome but is encouraging to see how much change is to come
reading these last novels focused on the new ideas surrounding the teenage girl inspired me to think about how the teenage girl is constantly changing, and how generations are always trying to keep up with the latest
making solid progress on my history girl project. i have loved learning about Sharon Baum's journey from a small town in Missouri to the top real estate broker in New York City #1102girlhood
@CaseyAlane i am making a scrapbook of some pictures for my history girl project-- should i cite each one on my works cited page or is the link on the back of the picture good enough? just worried about my works cited page being super long :))
yes! in my book, the main character literally hands her life over to a computer that runs her brain while traveling through space in a hibernation state. i can't imagine trusting technology to that extent, but i guess that's what we have to prepare for in the future #1102girlhood https://t.co/K9XIWaBNeS
@profound_teen agreed!! i feel like this can be a problem in success-hungry people- they never want to let others in fear of not being as good as them; however many times your friends can help you to success, just like Emilio did #1102girlhood
@AnnaKareninaCTS I watched the Mark Zuckerberg court hearing last week and was impressed/scared/concerned/excited about the power of Cambridge Analytica and the power of computers in general- how they use your likes and data trends to influence something as big as an election #1102girlhood
The twist at the end was mind-boggling- Kaczynski's clever introduction of Luca at the beginning and his role throughout the book was a perfect set up for her big reveal... you'll have to read the book to find out what I'm talking about! :) #1102girlhood
The selection process reminded me of The Hunger Games, especially with Cassie's struggle between making friends and making her way to the top, and the relationship she forms with Luca is almost like Katniss and Peeta #1102girlhood
I don't think one word can truly encapsulate the teenage girl because she is constantly changing and adapting to the world around her, whether that is in politics, education, fashion, health, and everything in between #1102girlhood
At the end of class today, we talked about how our ideas of the teenage girl evolved from the first day of class when we were asked to use one word to describe the teenage girl #1102girlhood
However, as One Day at a Time depicted, it is okay to not be completely accepting at first; it's a learning process for parents as well as teenagers as they work towards developing a full understanding of the direction our culture is going #1102girlhood
