IRAQ IS MOVING FROM THE MIDDLE OF CONFLICT TO THE CENTER OF DIPLOMACY
What happens when the country most exposed to the U.S.–Iran rivalry becomes the country capable of speaking to both?
Today in Tehran, Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi led Iraq’s delegation in talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The discussions focused on shared security, regional stability, investment and the creation of a working mechanism for the Iraqi-Iranian Joint Economic Committee.
Al-Zaidi described the visit as a renewal of the deep relationship between the two countries, built on geography, history, religion and culture. He also delivered a clear sovereignty message: Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for threats against Iran.
That statement should not be interpreted as Iraq choosing Tehran over Washington. The deeper message is that Baghdad wants Iraqi territory protected from every foreign confrontation. Real sovereignty means controlling armed groups, protecting diplomatic missions and preventing Iraq from becoming a battlefield for competing powers.
Is Iraq brokering a lasting peace deal between the United States and Iran?
No final agreement has been announced, and Iraq is not the only country involved in regional diplomacy. But Baghdad is clearly becoming part of the diplomatic architecture surrounding Washington and Tehran.
Al-Zaidi’s engagements with both capitals reveal a wider strategy: Iraq is trying to move from being the fault line of the conflict to becoming a bridge across it.
Diplomacy is also economic infrastructure
The proposed Joint Economic Committee could organize cooperation in trade, energy, transit, customs, banking and investment. If managed transparently, it could move more commerce into regulated channels, reduce informal financial flows and create legitimate investment opportunities.
This also connects directly to the Central Bank of Iraq. Regional stability reduces shipping, insurance and investment risk. Stronger banking oversight, transparent trade finance and improved compliance can help protect Iraq’s foreign reserves and strengthen its connections with international banks.
Is Iraq going international?
Yes—but internationalization is not created by slogans, rumors or sudden currency announcements.
A country becomes international when it is diplomatically useful, economically connected and institutionally trusted.
Iraq has the strategic ingredients: strong relations with the United States, deep ties with Iran, access to Gulf and Mediterranean routes, major energy resources and a central geographic position.
If Baghdad helps produce even part of a durable understanding between Washington and Tehran, Iraq’s role would fundamentally change—from arena to mediator, from buffer state to bridge state, and from regional object to regional actor.
This would also strengthen the long-term foundations of currency confidence. But any meaningful change in the dinar’s value must still rest on structural stability: controlled inflation, strong reserves, disciplined public finances, banking reform and productive private-sector growth.
Iraq is not merely standing between East and West. It is attempting to redesign the space between them.
The new Middle East may not have one single center—but Baghdad is making a powerful case that Iraq belongs at its heart.

Sen. Ron Johnson: “This is a PROFOUND revelation… For the 1st time, the US FDA admits COVID-19 vaccines KILLED American children.”
Healthy kids — virtually ZERO risk from COVID — were FORCED by Biden mandates into lethal shots.
Leaked FDA memo on child deaths: regulators confess their actions “we have harmed more children than we saved.”
They KNEW the risks. They HID the safety signals. They MANDATED the deaths anyway.
Mass murder by mandate. When will there EVER be justice?
'...were discovered in coffins during excavations at the site' - the same people obsessed with this story say nothing about 60,000 unborn children aborted and thrown into the waste or incinerated. We see ye.

Leftists call this “multiculturalism” while importing millions for votes.
Ban Islamic immigration and deport Islamists?
A. Yes
B. No
Where has 81 Billion gone Rach? Millions of us taxpayers want to know where our money is?
How can a government not be panicking about this. They are more concerned about Nigel farage than actually doing their jobs properly.
Isnt this classed as imcompetence?
This is unprecedented.
Authorities in Hungary just RAIDED the servers of Viktor Orbans party which is now the main opposition and took down their website and email.
This comes after the new government essentially banned Vikt Orban from becoming Prime Minister again.
You work while they do sweet fuck all! Muslim women are the most unemployed in the UK with only 36% in some kind of job. They love the British cash cows.
