While staying with drug dealer David McLeave (then 21) at a flat in Livingston, Ogilvie was drugged with the date-rape drug GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate). McLeave and associates stripped him, poured aftershave on him, placed a lit cigarette between his toes, and set him on fire while he was unconscious (or semi-conscious) watching TV. Ogilvie woke up to find parts of his body (including his head and groin) burning. The attackers reportedly filmed the ordeal.
