I was born and raised in the beautiful city of #Curitiba, southern #Brazil!
This region is famous for being cold and cloudy (yes it can be cold in Brazil!).
It is also famous for its very endemic and beautiful #Araucaria pine trees. #voicesIWS@IWS_Network@500womensci /1

Critical feedback is never fun, but the people who are willing to kindly tell you when something needs improvement are so valuable.
Not only does their feedback help you to make your work better, but you also know you can trust those people when they say that something is good!
@jdpereira@amazon I believe this is still a consequence of the national formula shortage a few years ago. We used to buy at Target (in 2022) and they used to be locked up and there was also a limit. (Did not matter that we also had twins)

An academic career progression can be perfectly linear:
PhD - Postdoc - Assistant Professor.
Here’s mine:
PhD - Postdoc 1 - Postdoc 2 - Postdoc 3 - Instructor - Senior Postdoc - Scientist II - Scientific Director - Assistant Professor.
And you know what? That’s ok.
AMA ;)
The way people excuse bad behavior in academia is one of the hardest things to grapple with.
“Oh, that’s just how he is”
“They didn’t mean it like that”
Or worse… [SILENCE]
This culture where people are reluctant to hold each other accountable is debilitating.
@ana_salmeida If your Lab has international students, I highly recommend anything very local about your city/country. Something like going for a match of a popular sport, or visiting a very emblematic and popular spot.
