this is so fucking insidious. there’s literally NO good reason to have a concealed camera connected to the internet available for general use. they will absolutely be training AI with the feedback, too. evil invention from evil people — i wish you nothing but the worst
Lol. What. One of the most notable things the Spaniards said when they arrived in the Philippines was the high literacy rate. And baybayin was derived from the Kawi script used throughout maritime SEA. Our first written record was written in Kawi.
Suspect in tacloban shooting incident.

No one is forcing you to stay at that soul-crushing job,” yes they are.
The threat of rent, bills, and homelessness is extremely coercive. Stop pretending choice exists in this setup.
The idea that the Philippines was "forced into Catholicism" is infantalizing bullshit that removes any agency to my ancestors.
Sorry. We chose to be Catholic. Our ancestors CHOSE to join the Universal Church.
our ancestors spent 500 years dying to preserve our local traditions to the point that there's a living tradition that reconciles catholicism's arrival with native beliefs (anting-anting folk religion), also half of the islands resisted christianization
grew up in canada much more recently than this hag and was an honours student
we had zero anti american propaganda
plenty of pro canada propaganda though
we almost never discussed american history except when it was relevant our own
The gayness is our ancestors understanding that sexuality is fluid and honoring that we all have a unique contribution to the collective soul. The homophobia is a side effect of colonialism imposing patriarchal religion and strict gender roles on us.
Pride is also decolonization.
Therapy helps but let’s be clear. You can’t CBT your way out of capitalism. You can’t mindfulness your way out of racism. You can’t self care your way out of oppression. You can’t journal your way out of ableism. This isn’t about coping, it’s about deconstructing the systems.
I was in the Granville area talking with people who are homeless and using drugs. They're spread out everywhere now, in alleys, doorways, and on the streets.
I asked them all the same question:
"If there was a supervised consumption site nearby, would you use it?"
Every one of them said yes.
Not one person wanted to use drugs in public. "We don't have anywhere else to go."
I also asked if they had naloxone. Every person said yes. One young woman told me they had reversed an overdose just a few days ago.
The irony is hard to ignore with the same people complaining about public drug use are often the same people opposing supervised consumption sites... the very places designed to move drug use off the streets, prevent overdoses, and connect people to support.
If you don't want to see people using drugs in alleys, doorways, and sidewalks, then oppose the problem or support the solution.
You can't do both.
Make it make sense.
I love that Filipino meteorologists continue to use the terms Amihan and Habagat as the northeast and southwest seasonal monsoons.
In some versions of the Tagalog mythology, Amihan and Habagat were in a love triangle with Buhawi (the word we now use for cyclones).
