5 things to do before making a single piece of content:
1. Research who you’re targeting/competition
2. Identify your strategy + the purpose behind the content you make
3. Define goals & which metrics to track that will determine success
4. Pick your channels
5. Content calendar
Here's how to know if you're ready for a marketing partner:
- Business is profitable but you don’t have a clear marketing strategy/goals
- Lack capacity to do all marketing in-house
- Avoid website updates, leaving you w/ a site that hasn’t been updated in… well, maybe ever
Quick tips on how to unlearn poor copywriting:
●Start with value/most enticing part first
●Cut out filler words: “just”, “in regards to”, “possibly”
●Break grammar rules if it helps you write the way we talk
●Avoid cliches: “in the blink of an eye”, “time after time”
It's not an in-house versus outsourced marketing team anymore. The most successful brands understand the value of leveraging both—meet the hybrid marketing team model
@areej_abuali Yes. I used to embed iframes so I could add a webpage I didn’t own to my own website without the domain changing. Tracking can just get a little difficult this way
@MikeWatsonMWA Yes! Websites are just one thing. They also need maintenance and a plan to get traffic to the site because what good is a website that nobody ever sees?
@MattSaundersUK Go all in on social and tap into existing network (both online and people you know in person).
I’m my experience, the clients that were qualified and a good fit for me weren’t on Upwork. Plus they take a hefty fee
@coreyhainesco I don’t think it matters on the back end. It’s more for preference and social proof. It could be argued that people are more familiar with .com and more likely to remember that over .co or .shop for example
@LouiseShanahan_ I constantly bookmark content and brains dump on my notes app as inspiration so I’m never having to sit down and force myself to write and find inspiration. I have a whole batch of inspiration waiting for me
@robertodigital_ - Easy to navigate regardless of the device you’re using
- Clear on what the website is about
- Keep pop ups to a minimum
- Fast load time
