Harry Potter is quite literally a staple of my childhood. I was having it read to my class on the "reading room carpet" in second grade when 9/11 happened. Like I GREW up with it as comfort. I saw them all in theaters. I own the books, I almost got a tattoo. Those actors grew up as I grew up, we're less than 5 years in age apart.

Nostalgia isn't an excuse. JK has openly said she uses the profits she gets from HP to fund her ideologies. She actively uses HP to fund anti trans legislation. Anything HP related that she can copyright she PROFITs from. Platforming something that is inspired by it to a young and impressionable audience who want to resonate and have similar interests with their idols... it will make it popular again, people will re-stream, purchase books, stream the new show, buy the game, etc and directly fund her.

If her anti trans rhetoric is not enough, she's pro Israel and refused to join the cultural boycott in 2015. She was called out by the Native American community for racial insensitivity when she wrote "History of Magic in North America" It included her fictionalised ideas of "Native American Magic" but used Native American religious figures and symbolism from contemporary, living cultures. The indigenous communities also called her out for violation of intellectual property rights, disrespect and appropriating "Native traditions while erasing Native peoples".
