Researching open source strategy in quantum computing for the OSRG. Former Head of Product at Quantum Brilliance, devrel at Red Hat & SaaS founder. Hi 👋

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

When people talk about #quantumcomputing it's usually about science or hardware. Here's something for those of us on the software side.

I first put this together for friends who were caught up in FAANG layoffs. I hope this proves useful for others also.

@RobWoodWasHere That's wonderful. The long long long long tail of marketing!

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Seeing someone upvote an answer I made on Stack Overflow over 10 years ago, about a product I helped build over 12 years ago, just makes me want to ask them "why are you using this? is everything okay?" 😂

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

@ThisisTheMazzi Good choice. Will see you on LinkedIn and maybe insta. Always enjoy reading your posts. And impressed by the progress you've made this year too (if you're going to Q2B in the Bay Area in December, will have to say hi IRL!).

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

It was an absolute joy to work with @tufftones63 on this album. If you like @TheAvalanches or @mrscruff1 or @nightmaresonwax you're going to love this @trovaire debut (on vinyl as it should be). Straight outta... Australia?

[Trovaire @trovaire]

Down to Melbourne to catch up with our mix engineer @tufftones63, who added the sparkle to our debut album "The Stonefruit Sessions".

We hooked up with Tony after being fans of his over the years, especially his work with fellow Aussie acts @theavalanches and @cutcopy.

For those outside of the TAM of this post:

1. room-temp quantum computing already exists
2. the "China" thing was one of many recent cases of an interesting research paper being turned into some weird and obvious lie about "RSA hacked!!!"
3. AI clickbait is getting out of hand

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Just pick a technology keyword, make up some lies, and sell some kind of subscription. This seems way easier than actually working in Deep Tech.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Anyone have experience reclaiming a YouTube account?

An account that has sentimental value (my old band account from the mid-2000s) was hacked. Can't reclaim, and the human customer support don't know what to do, as it was a pre-Google original YouTube account!

Thoughts?

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Bring back advertising like this. And PRODUCTS like this. No AI, no screens, no menu diving, no subscription...

[voltagecontrol @voltagecontrols]

Bring back the golden era of synth advertising please! Love this classic #Moog 80s vibe.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

@voltagecontrols This has Moog vibes.... the Taurus? #moog #taurus #synthwave

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

@J__Rosen @airtable Not looking for another tool or another thing in the toolchain. Thanks.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Do I have any friends who are big into @airtable?

Any workarounds to get a Dark Mode? Or are we staring directly into the sun?

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

I feel sad for the Google AI team. Overshadowed by Anthropic and OpenAI, and labouring under "meh" product positioning and naming.

Claude's Artifacts and ChatGPT's Canvas get the headlines. But nobody really talks about Google's Gems. It's great but... Gems. Y'know?

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

@voltagecontrols Too easy... that's the iconic ASP 2600 right there. #arp2600 #techno monster.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Legendary dance music history. Nice work, UK.

[voltagecontrol @voltagecontrols]

Did you know? "Voodoo Ray" by A Guy Called Gerald was recognised as the UK's first #acidhouse track... and awarded a blue plaque as an official part of UK history!

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Not amazed that Gavel is out at Techstars. Am amazed how it took so long to "choose to step down". Has anyone besides Elon set fire to more commercial value and brand equity in the startup space this decade?

@Editor_FMD @PatrickEBoyle "This is a youtube channel about rap music, sir"

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

I'm getting ratio'd... AWS cost of SageMaker notebooks versus cost of running tasks on the IonQ QPU.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

@PatrickEBoyle "you would have to be living under a rock not to recognise the genius of Razzlekhan"

- a direct quote from MC P-Boylee AKA Big Daddy Quant AKA DJ Footsie (2023)

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Don't do this. This is a pretty innocuous example, but even this one falls under the category of "nobody needs to know this". I know a bunch of these hosts, and all of them share how creepy it is to constantly see these kinds of comments from men on the www internet dot com.

[davidryan @hellodavidryan]

Reminder... Product Hunt's daily lists might be flooded with AI wrapper startups, but the site is still a useful part of a go-to-market strategy. Apple, Claude, etc think so.
