The Sarvasya Aarogyam edition of Vigyan Dhara highlights the commitment of India to advancing the One Health approach by recognising the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.
The chapter, "From Blueprint to Breakthrough: India's National One Health Mission Comes Alive," highlights how the National One Health Mission is transforming vision into action through integrated disease surveillance, joint outbreak response, research, and pandemic preparedness.
From establishing a national network of BSL-3 laboratories and conducting large-scale outbreak simulation exercises to developing AI-enabled information systems and strengthening coordination from the national to the grassroots level, it marks a significant shift from reactive response to preventive preparedness.

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is contributing towards building a healthier and resilient India through scientific advisory to shape the National One Health Mission. Recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health sectors, the mission aims to enable a coordinated action across sectors to prevent, detect, and respond to health threats.
Approved by the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC), led by the OPSA, and implemented by the Indian Council of Medical Research (@ICMRDELHI), the mission unites ministries and scientific institutions to boost integrated disease surveillance, early warning, research collaboration, laboratory networks, and pandemic readiness. This coordinated framework accelerates data sharing, capacity building, and joint response planning to ensure faster and more effective interventions when risks emerge.
The Mission is complemented through other initiatives of science-based regulation of medical products and devices to support patient safety, quality assurance, innovation, and indigenous manufacturing; and the National Plant Health Initiative to protect crops and biodiversity through better surveillance, diagnostics, sustainable agriculture, and biosecurity.
Together, these initiatives are reshaping the approach to health by linking research, regulation, agriculture, and governance to build a healthier, safer and more resilient nation under the One Health framework.

#Ebola update: more than 1000 confirmed cases have been reported in #DRC, including 254 deaths. 100 patients have recovered so far, which shows that for many, the virus can be stopped with timely health care.
In the past month, @WHO, @AfricaCDC and partners have supported @MinSanteRDC to increase the number of Ebola Treatment Centres and lab and surveillance capacities, to train more health workers on clinical care and infection prevention and control, and to improve the understanding and involvement of communities.
But much more is needed: more treatment centres, more trained health and care workers, more testing, more teams from within communities supporting communities.
We need sustained and safe access to reach all affected people.
We need continued solidarity from international community to end this outbreak.
And ultimately, we need peace for the people of DRC.
10 years after the #Zika PHEIC, progress has been made—but lessons must continue to guide our work every day.
We reflect on advances in Zika research, remaining gaps & why preparedness cannot wait for the next crisis.
