The appalling conditions at Manston and the terror attack at Dover reflect a decades-long campaign to dehumanise refugees.
This is not a migrant crisis. This is a humanitarian crisis.
Expand safe routes, close down detention centres, and end the hostile environment.
I respect CBT for its evidence base. I want to get better at it for my clients not because it’s how I think it’s how therapy should be done, but mainly because it seems to work. But it does make it strange to deliver to clients. You don’t like it…but you believe in it.
Yes, our country has problems, but I have a plan to lead us out of this and become a land where we can all enjoy severe austerity, poverty, few public services and no human rights.
Rishi Sunak doesn't represent anything other than his own privilege and success. He doesn't represent a 'win' for anyone who isn't also from a privileged background
Huge to have the first PM of colour - it only took running twice, losing the first time, not actually being elected the second time, two PM resignations, the shortest serving PM in history and an entire economic meltdown to shunt him into number 10. A proud moment.
And isn't it mad that a man like Sunak who sits amongst the very upper echelons of society in terms wealth, education and occupational status is still not insulated from the effects of racism. So what hope do we peasants have?!
Feels like sweet poetic justice that people basically voted Tory to get us job stealing brownies out of the UK and now a brown guy is about to become their new Tory prime minister 😂

@gem_ste@sabdotzed Saber have you read this article? The whole article is satirical - as a comedian, this is generally what David Mitchell writes. He's essentially saying that our democracy is such a shambles we may as well have Charles running the show, at least there's no pretence of democracy
@UCL_DClinPsy @chinchinar Thank you! They still want the high 2:1 and 'academic' masters I believe. It just feels weirdly unfair if UCL can literally train me to work as an NHS CAP and then still say I'm not academically good enough for them because of a few % points 😅
@UCL_DClinPsy @chinchinar This has been disappointing as I'm currently studying the MSc Clinical Associate in Psychology course at UCL but now I hear I can't apply here for DClinPsy, due to getting 2:1 below 67%. Is this MSc at UCL considered 'academic' enough for me to apply? It's a pass/fail course.
this anterior pelvic tilt be making life a misery! but the good news is, i'm now no longer paying 22393838 on rent and bills every month. i'll take the lower back pain any day
When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was defining arrogance, he said that from the things that make a heart filed with arrogance is that the arrogant heart looks down on people.
@nazifaanjum_ But also it's these ideas of what we 'should' be doing at any point of our lives that keeps us stuck on the hamster wheel feeling like we need to constantly be upgrading our lifestyle and meeting expectations of others that we've probably internalised
@nazifaanjum_ I guess the fact that this version of adulthood comes with tonnes of debt + stress is probably seen by those people as an exceptional enough circumstance to warrant living with parents until a more stable situation comes along - money stress is the worst and so easily ruins lives
