NFL Draft was a huge success for transit, from local ridership numbers to SMART shuttle buses. Will we get to see more late night service to support popular events? the last FAST SMART is only 11pm @DetroitTransit#StateOfTransit
2024 saw Detroit's first bus dedicated bus lane on Michigan Ave proposed and then removed without a word from any transit providers or RTA. Will 2025 see providers be involved in infrastructure projects that could benefit them?

In exchange for $8/month you can read all of my original reporting — plus if subscribers ever need to read a local story behind a paywall, I will be happy to share it with you! https://t.co/LJlcMhZK47
huge demand for transit tonight, Noel Night and a Redwings game, but regular schedule from @RTAmichigan. They pulled out all the stops for NFL draft shuttles, then back to regular schedule. demand is there, proven people will ride. What are you waiting for?
I would love to go one week without thinking I am about to be run over by a car @MDOT_MetroDet but the statistics and infrastructure are not in my favor
Why do most car drivers expect bicycles to pull over and let them by, and how do you plan on correcting this? I am tired of being honked at, yelled at, and close passed on roads.
@DetroitGreenway@MDOT_MetroDet
Today the young man driving this SUV with his mom honked at me twice. When confronted he said because I was on a bicycle I needed to "get out of the center of the lane so I can go around". Clearly he thinks crossing a double yellow line to pass a moving vehicle is correct
Over a decade ago, the first edition of the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide sparked a design revolution in cities.
Coming on January 14, 2025: the much-anticipated third edition! Developed for cities, by cities, the guide sets a new standard for designing streets for bikes.
@DetroitGreenway would love them explain what these barn buildings are for, and why the most desired location are used for <3 floor buildings but 5+ floor parking garages.
@DetroitGreenway I would love to see housing density prioritized at or near the top, majority of sq ft should be housing, not parking. detroit deserves public parks (owned by the public) instead of more mall cops blocking sidewalks at 930pm
@DetroitGreenway is this the right meeting? seems like its a general district 5 meeting. 35 min in and we havent talked about this item at all. lots of pro transit people here tho!!
@sister_threads @DetroitEmory @cyclesixmile@hollerbach @BagleyAlice @AmyHemmeter@sociallychrissy OH AND LIGHTS! it gets dark early! Get a big bright front light and blinky rear. mine are old and held up for years, Planet Bike 650xlr (front) and Cygolite 110 (rear). new ones are even better.
@sister_threads @DetroitEmory @cyclesixmile@hollerbach @BagleyAlice @AmyHemmeter@sociallychrissy 🫡 Coldest setup: tights, rei hiking pants, wool socks, regular boots. tshirt, flannel shirt\sweater, goretex style jacket (pit zips are really nice to have). thin hat that fits under my helmet. the big $40 carhartt gloves. been out in 25F and survived.
