Happy holidays to all parents who are trying their best to make blended families work & who consistently get passively-aggressively left off greeting cards, gift baskets, & phone calls because exes think maybe if they treat you like you don't exist you'll just disappear ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฏ
@AnnFmelissa169 @Sblahov Not to mention your diet, fluid restrictions, and medications, particularly if you have some residual kidney function that they want to make use of. The CKD anemia meds are SO expensive. It's awful. People who don't know crap about ESRD have no idea how devastating it can be.
@AnnFmelissa169 @Sblahov I'm so sorry to hear about all of that. That's an epic failure of our medical system and so many professionals.
The time people spend on the dialysis machines is like having a part-time job. Which turns full-time when you account for transportation & how much it wipes you out.
@AnnFmelissa169 @Sblahov I felt horrible being unable to meet everyone's needs when I worked at one particular outpatient unit. Not sure where you are from, but I am happy to read that you have a good team now. For dialysis patients, this is so much of their lives. They need support, not barriers.
@AnnFmelissa169 @Sblahov As a nephrology nurse who has worked both in outpatient and inpatient units, I'm sorry for how horrible many of the outpatient places are. They're bad to their staff, too, & shove so many patients thru the doors to make $ that appropriate, safe accommodations just don't happen.
My toxic trait is that when I hear men talking about their fresh coffee or breakfast or ability to sleep in because they "needed it", I announce that it must be nice to enjoy something fresh or hot , get sleep, and not be interrupted every 3 seconds since 5 am by children
Last thing I wrote creatively (for myself). Over 2 years ago.
In 48 hours, I would be lying on the stairs, unable to breathe, wondering if I was going to die in front of my children while they jumped on me, thinking I was playing a game.
All I thought: "Not in front of them."
