@JdS547990329701@CP24 😭😭 more cars on the road = more traffic. If you want traffic to go away you need to provide multiple options for people to maneuver the city. No one’s getting rid of bikes buddy, just means more people will die on the roads
@ptc555@PhilPerkinsCP24 That’s such a lie lol, I’ve lived in this area for 20 years. It’s always like this during rush hour. The removal of the bike lanes will change nothing 😭😭
@martynschmoll I went to school near where they’re ripping up the bike lanes. It was literally always congested, especially during rush hour. These people do not listen to facts or reason, they have their culture war and have set their sights on bike lanes
@TDotResident There were a ton of people from Etobicoke there last night, me included, raised here all my life. We are stuck in a blue vortex of spoiled nimbys who won’t adapt to the future
@georgebell Last night someone tried to run over a bunch of people on bikes and the police officers did not care, but threatened to arrest us for protesting instead
@JdS547990329701@CP24 No but we voted in a mayor who was for the installation of bike lanes. That should be evidence enough. And the issue still remains on the gross overreach and abundant spending of the province, this did not need to be a $50m bill the tax payers had to foot https://t.co/5MLBjhnOyF
@KristineHubbard@justwannasayth2 Which is a shame because I love this city so much, been here all my life and I’ve biked everywhere. These lanes made me feel so safe.
@JdS547990329701@CP24 This is a poll of 510 people. This story and its numbers are a gross misrepresentation of what 2.7+ million people feel. I can find 510 people who are for bike lanes and say “100% of Torontonians are for bike lanes”
@justwannasayth2@KristineHubbard I’ll still be biking man, just like I did 3 years ago, I’ll be on that road, lane or not, there will still be traffic, and I’ll still ride past them
Bike lanes belong in Toronto. Doug Ford does not deserve to be in office. I will never understand how he’s made it for so long, but if a progressive ever acted like him, they’d want their head on a spike.
@justwannasayth2@KristineHubbard Facts don’t care for opinions brother, bike lanes reduce congestion, there are scientific studies on this and all experts agree. You’re the one caught in your car-centric feelings
@JdS547990329701@CP24 If it was the will of the people, they would’ve put a vote out in Toronto, but they didn’t because they knew it would’ve passed. Major cities all over the world have bike lanes in their main arteries, idk why we’re so different, less cars on the road = less traffic.
@justwannasayth2@KristineHubbard Just stop, I use them everyday to get to work, and see people on them all the time? We seem to have 2 different lived experiences
@JdS547990329701@CP24 They will be reinstalled once Doug ford is out of office. And then someone else will use them to kickstart their campaign. This is an issue meant to divide, there are people across the political spectrum that advocate for bike lanes. This is a gross overreach by the province
@justwannasayth2@KristineHubbard Tons of videos online about how many cyclists use those roads, this is a tired and ridiculous argument. There will still be congestion except now, they’ll have to deal with bikers on the road instead of in their designated bike lanes! This is common sense I fear
The right to peaceful protest is fundamental, but it does not extend to obstructing lawful work.
Following a recent demonstration concerning the removal of bike lanes, Chief @TPSMyronDemkiw reinforces that while individuals have the right to express their views, interfering with lawful work may result in criminal charges.
We urge everyone to follow the lawful directions of officers on scene, who are there to maintain public safety.
@Jenna_bee__@CityNewsTO That’s not how a democracy in the western world works! We voted for a candidate that had our ideals in mind, and she put into place was she said she would. And I hate to break it to you, but if it was put to a vote, it would’ve passed with flying colours.
