Instinctual Trauma Response® (ITR) is an evidence-supported trauma recovery protocol used to reduce or eliminate trauma symptoms effectively long term.
Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the heroes who stepped forward when others needed them most.
We also remember those who continue to carry the impact of that day.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

First responders shouldn’t have to wait until they’re at their breaking point to get help.
Sgt. John Haddaway, Peer Support & Wellness Manager at the Baltimore County Police Department, shares why proactive trauma support matters.
For him, supporting first responders means more than saying, “We care.” It means providing real tools, resources, and support before stress reaches a tipping point.
That’s why his team explored ITR®.

What if the diagnosis is only telling part of the story?
After decades of working as a psychiatrist, Dr. Louis Tinnin began to see something that changed the way he understood his patients.
Many people came to him with diagnoses such as panic disorder, anxiety, depression, addiction, or other conditions. For years, he did what he could to help them manage their symptoms.
But through trauma therapy, he began looking deeper.
In his experience, many of the symptoms he encountered could be connected to unresolved trauma and when the trauma was processed, the symptoms were often eliminated.
“Process the trauma first and see what’s left.” became the ITR motto.

Today, we honor the people who show up.
The people who care for others.
The people who teach, protect, serve, build, lead, listen, and support.
The people whose work often makes a difference in someone else’s life sometimes in ways they may never fully see.
At ITR Training Institute, we believe that the people helping others deserve the knowledge, tools, and support they need to do that work well.
This Labor Day, we’re grateful for everyone who gives their time, energy, skills, and heart to making life better for others.
Your work matters. The people you help matter. And you matter, too.
Happy Labor Day.

When clients hit a wall, they don't need a lecture on the "next big thing" in therapy especially something as polarizing as psychedelics.
Never push a solution on someone who isn't ready for it.
They just need to know they haven't actually run out of options.
Sometimes the answer is specialized trauma work. Sometimes it's equine therapy. And sometimes? It’s as simple and life-changing as adopting a dog.
Offer options. Remove the pressure. Let the client choose their path.

Trauma isn't a specialty area it's the human experience. 🌍💭
The World Health Organization estimates trauma affects roughly 70% of people globally. But trauma doesn't always mean PTSD or complex trauma. It's broader than that.
Overwhelming stress, grief, or loss touches everyone at some point.
Experiencing it doesn't mean you'll develop PTSD or complex trauma.
Expanding your definition of trauma changes how you see every client who walks through your door.
If trauma is universal, then trauma-informed care isn't a niche it's foundational.

If caregivers had the same ITR knowledge as their clinician, healing wouldn’t wait for the weekly hour. 🧠💛
Equipped caregivers can recognize fight, flight, or freeze and support healing in real time, every day.
When caregivers are equipped, healing happens beyond the therapy room.

Tired of therapy that only scratches the surface?
Weekly sessions can be difficult to sustain and symptom management alone does not address the roots of trauma.
Healing requires going deeper:
🧠 Address the root, not just the symptoms.
🔄 Change old patterns and responses.

Treating complex dissociative trauma like DID requires specialized pacing that standard 45-minute sessions rarely support. 🧠⚡
Start by narrowing your target clinical focus, build the right structural container, and expand your scope as your clinical tools grow.

The mental health crisis is growing—but traditional education pipelines can’t keep up. 🧠📊
As demand for trauma-informed care rises, graduate enrollment is declining, creating an even bigger gap in the clinician workforce.
One potential solution: expand paraprofessional and workforce-ready training through community colleges and specialized programs.
A stronger mental health system may require a multi-tiered workforce—not just more clinicians, but more trained professionals supporting care at the community level.

Checking every box on your directory profile might feel like casting a wide net, but it often leads to the wrong client matches and clinician burnout. 🧠📋
When setting up platforms like Psychology Today, specificity is your greatest asset. Instead of listing every method and population under the sun, be clear right up front:
State your exact credentials.
Use a current, professional headshot.
Outline the precise therapeutic methods you use directly in your "About Me" section.
When you clearly define what you do and how you work, you attract the clients best suited for your care while setting clear expectations before the first session even starts.

What looks like ADHD may sometimes be the brain responding to unresolved trauma.
When a child is overwhelmed, the thinking brain can go offline, making impulse control and emotional regulation much harder.
Before asking, “What’s the diagnosis?” it’s worth asking:
“What happened to this child?”
Understanding the root cause can change how we help. 🧠

The demand for trauma care continues to grow, but the gap between available clinicians and people needing help remains a critical challenge. 🧠💡
To truly meet this need, we have to start thinking outside the box and expanding how we approach trauma care.
This webinar is just the beginning of that conversation a foundational look at innovative strategies that could easily span days of deep-dive training.
If we want to close the gap in mental health access, we need to evolve how we train, practice, and deliver care.
