Whatever ring bling you have on @CoachJayWright you need to just take it off. You’re sitting next to @Candace_Parker who could be wearing 2 NCAA champion rings, 2 Olympic gold medals, and a WNBA championship ring but she’s not. Sad you feel the need to flex.
@SJEducate @npolyak @mmanderino @carrera1422@DominicManola@ctrivera1 As a result, you didn't get the student mix OR the faculty leaders you need to actually get something done. But hey, a mural is really nice and clearly tweet-worthy which is about all any of us really expect is going to be accomplished with any of this E&J work.
@SJEducate @npolyak @mmanderino @carrera1422@DominicManola@ctrivera1 E&J student committee at W is a perfect example of how things are not getting done. The most engaged student leaders are already disillusioned. I don't think W E&J staff leaders know that because, again, Admin. didn't approach the leadership of that committee strategically.
@SJEducate @npolyak @mmanderino @carrera1422@DominicManola@ctrivera1 The original committee was invitation only. The larger community was not asked in until it became clear that maybe more people should have been asked. E&J student committee at West is a perfect example of where the initiative is at.
@SJEducate @npolyak @mmanderino @carrera1422@DominicManola@ctrivera1 It's funny you have no idea who I am. I know every person in that photo. I was fighting for equity for LatinX students at West while you were getting your first degree. Your committee has been around for 3 years and done what?
@SJEducate @npolyak @mmanderino @carrera1422@DominicManola@ctrivera1 It's the District leadership's problem. Those of us that understand the positionality of most of the E&J members believe that the committee was formed with that staff to ensure nothing meaningful gets done. There are plenty of us who would have stepped up but were not asked.
@ajbauer @sivavaid It’s sad this thread devolved into mostly BS. I tentatively agree with your observation having spent the last 4 years trying to do both w/ HS seniors in a course I created around data security, etc. I have been mulling over what I believe is needed but won’t offer it here.
Child in the Sistine Chapel: Wait, so if Jesus died and then was made alive again, how did he finally die!? Why isn’t he alive now!? Where did he go!?
Tour Guide: We observe silence in this forum.
This will never happen @leydenpride212. Maybe 5 teachers in the district think this is worthy of their time and actually do something in their classes. The administration has no interest in making information/media literacy a central part of the mission.
@RozehnalMd I have no doubt it’s a smart device that’s sucking up all kinds of data because the home is the last frontier for the surveillance capitalists. And don’t get me started on the waste of energy….
@cfiesler And because no one in schools is paying attention to the work of @samwineburg on teaching media literacy, let alone implementing it, there will be thousands of students who believe this.
on this day in 1969 @faznet published 'Tücken der Computer' ('Pitfalls of computers'), by Hanno Kühnert, lawyer & journalist. the piece is believed to have inspired Georg August Zinn (here with Elizabeth II in 1965) the creation of the 1st #dataprotection law ever, in Hesse
"Imagine if in the 1980s any regime had demanded every citizen install omniscient monitoring devices in their homes, and carry one around in their pockets. It would be seen as the ultimate authoritarian nightmare. Yet here we are"
Excellent opinion piece:

@Klonick More productive before email. My institution can’t figure out how to communicate what type of info in what way so everything’s an email. They (a HS) also email track us so people feel everything at least needs to be looked at.
