Let's fight against discrimination within the LGBTQ community. NASW will "promote LGB human rights and support advocates and civil society groups in the United States and globally through programmatic and financial assistance". #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@CallieFuller20 As professional social workers we need continue to fight for equal opportunities for all. Our children should not be discriminated against. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@lauren_wkumsw I am so glad to see this happening. I have many foster parents that are part of the LGBTQ community and listening to them talk about how they are treated is very sad. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@kaylabrookeMSW I believe no matter the color we all should be treated fair and equal. Not one color is more important than the next. As social worker he need to keep advocating to stop racial inequality. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@MPFowlerMSW I had no idea about this Act. I look forward to looking and hearing more about it. I believe this would be very beneficial in helping with the fight against Hate Crimes. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
The NASW states that social workers challenge social justice. Social workers social change efforts are focused primarily on issues of poverty, unemployment, discrimination, and other forms of social injustice. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@whitney_byler I understand about the scamming. With elders getting confused it is very easy to get persuaded. Thank you for sharing. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@TammyVantrease I personally know an elder that has been isolated due to COVID. She is now experiencing depression and anxiety and having to take medication. Thank you for sharing. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
HB 298 provides better tools needed to better prevent
maltreatment, neglect and exploitation for our elder population. In 2019 there was a 19% increase of calls due to elder abuse. NASW values Dignity and Worth of a person. Please report. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
Kentucky is one of the highest state in the US for child abuse/neglect. Our KY children need our help. Our children's life's matter. The NASW ethical principles states that social workers recognize the central importance of human relationships. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@AdalineEstay This would be a great bill to support. Kentucky is one of the highest for child abuse/neglect. I believe with this bill we could see some change in our numbers and bring more awareness to child abuse. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@Dreaka_3 As a child welfare worker I understand burn out. We have high caseloads, work load can be very stressful and demanding at times. As workers we have to learn to take time for ourselves and families. Selfcare is #1. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@mailirose95 Working in child protection we have seen a increase of clients with mental health concerns since the pandemic. Which had lead to increase of substance use and child abuse. Thank you for sharing. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
Support HB399, this bill would create awareness, provide training, and engage veterans at suicidal risk. Veterans die daily to suicide it is time to put an end to it. Social worker's primary goa is to help people in need and to address social problems. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
Support HB95, this bill would put a cap of $30 on insulin. People should not have to make a decision between insulin and providing for their family. Social workers need to continue to advocate within and outside our agencies for our clients. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@lauren_wkumsw@dannycarrollky Telehealth services are just as important as in-person. Telehealth the last year has allowed people more access to services. Telehealth services should be reimbursed the same as in-person services. This has helped our clients in CPS. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@kelly_foust @ReginaHuff82 @april_murphy15 My step-daughter is in high school, completing FAFA was a requirement. I believe that this is very important for students and families to know. I have came across families that believe they can't afford college and do not know the funding that is available. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
House Bill 384. HB would allow children not to miss breakfast at school. We need to continue to pass policies and legislation that maintains the social safety net related to food security for out children. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
