In 1940, Indian physicist Bibha Chowdhuri hauled photographic plates up the Himalayas, captured clear tracks of new subatomic particles (mesons/pions), measured their mass, and published in Nature.

Her discovery. Her work.

7 years later, Cecil Powell repeated her exact experiment with better (post-war) emulsions, saw the same particles and won the 1950 Nobel Prize in Physics.
