We wrote What Matters Now early on w/ @_melissafuller trying to come to terms w/ loss. Having this song as a tent pole for Acceptance gave us the courage to dig into the other stages in a deeper way, knowing we wouldn't be in the valley forever.

What Else Can I Do was one of the quickest songs written for the album. How fast a song comes isn't always a sign of how good it is; but once we started writing, we knew exactly what this one needed to say. Definitely a favorite.

Something Special was a song that we had wanted to write from the very beginning. Being able to see the relationship from the other side once it's over is equally enlightening and crushing. This song is our way of reaching into that space.

Anything starts the 2nd half of Grief. We wrote this song w/ @_melissafuller & it was the last song we wrote for the album. Nothing like finding that last puzzle piece. Thanks Melissa for being there at the beginning and at the end of this journey!

Should Have Listened is the last song on the 1st half of Grief. Like the stages, the 1st half of the album is high energy, high production, & tries to capture the intensity of those emotions. Should Have Listened is the last gasp of that fight.

We wrote Together as we were talking about how the things we try to ignore always come back around. Love how the outro begins the transition out of Anger.

The chorus of Tightrope was what opened our eyes to the project being about the 5 stages of Grief. Seeing Anger as scaffolding to help build what comes next unlocked so much of the creative process for us.

Easier was written trying to untangle all the different emotions that come with the end of a relationship. The music was a reminder to us that sometimes the best way to convey a feeling is w/out any words at all.
