Yessss... I think there's an optimistic hope and chance that many Indians alive today will see India play in a FIFA WC but not so soon. Right now we're around 136–140 in the FIFA rankings, far below the level of World Cup qualifiers. It is genuinely hard to qualify for us but I'd say there's a pragmatic chance India could qualify for a WC by 2038 or 2042 if football development improves consistently from the grassroots level. If things continue at the current pace, qualification remains unlikely but not impossible. Bitter but trueeee.
