@radioecho17 She is supposed to have flaws and undergo development as the MC. But due to the 8 episode limit and runtime, the show does struggle with balancing her redeeming qualities— especially bc her issues catalyze other plot points and character arcs.

@radioecho17 Charlie is going to be hard to watch— and I say this as someone who doesn’t dislike her. Because of the way she was portrayed in S2 already, S3 is going to turn people off of her even more. She’s going to alienate Lu and the hotel crew as she tries to impress Lilith.

@SophiePinkStar @TwoDream48 Where Vox wants worship and adoration (compelling him to be superficially likeable), Al wants fear and respect, and thus no attachments. But then he’s quietly insulted and begrudgingly upset no one cares he was gone for years, kidnapped, injured, etc. A prison of his own making.

@tawnyshedu @CorrelanceX I agree that Al being mixed is so crucial to his character. With respect to his career, being lighter skinned probably worked in his favour. But I think his homelife gave him complicated feelings on his parentage (his father). It’s an important detail that often gets glossed over

@seolmimi7 @Firy_Fox The audience gets let in on moments Al is vulnerable, anxious, or upset. But the people around him are kept at a distance with Al leveraging his persona, reputation and power. Most people in the show don���t know Al as well as the audience does atp, and that’s deliberate

@X_Bill_Gl From a psych perspective, people experiencing disorientation or psychosis (particularly of a paranoid variety) respond better to validation than argumentation. The latter will prompt them to mistrust you and exacerbate confusion and anxiety, sometimes anger and frustration

@X_Bill_Gl A roommate of mine once experienced a dissociative episode so intense she had temporary amnesia. I spent the 2 hours answering her questions calmly, and the episode resolved. Panicking/contradiction would have escalated things and freaked her out unnecessarily.

@SpideyQrow I’ve read fan comics/fanfics that are wonderfully executed with a clear understanding and respect of the characters involved. But I’ve also seen content that’s wildly ooc and treats Al less like a person and more like a sexyman stand-in, which is very unfortunate

@decoradoomed My parents, who married pretty young, were able to divorce quite amicably, and my sibling and I remain very close to both parents. Both have moved on and it was the best resolution for all parties. Even in situations where parents aren’t explosive, divorce is reasonable

@CorrelanceX I do wonder at Al’s motives for summoning Rosie. Desperation seems likely (his attempts were numerous), but I suspect it may have extended beyond his desire to secure power in Hell. Afaik, her deal would take effect upon death so his ‘fun’ on earth wasn’t a factor, only in Hell.

@CorrelanceX I have heard of these spirit radios; a curio shop I live near has a replica. The spiritualist movement was still hanging on in the 20s. Interestingly, radios are still utilized by paranormal hunters today, with devices that rapidly cycle through stations.

@decoradoomed It is fun that they’re both capped in that regard. Lucifer can’t harm sinners, and sinners can’t harm Lucifer without angelic weapons. They can go all out and still get nowhere, which will probably force them to ✨communicate✨
