Debra Greenlaw DeMello was a 35-year-old mother of three and another victim of the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer.

Debra was last seen on July 11, 1988, walking away from a work-release program following her sentencing for sex work. The beautiful young woman had struggled with substance use for years. She deserved better in life.

Debra’s nude body was found on November 8, 1988, off the eastbound Reed Road ramp of Interstate 195 by a state highway crew. Her clothing was hung in the trees. Belongings of another victim, Nancy Lee Paiva, were nearby. Debra’s oldest child Chandra, then a teen, watched on TV as Debra’s body was pulled out of the woods. In that moment, she didn’t know the body was her own mother.

Chandra and Wayne Perry, Debra’s brother, have been relentless in their search for answers. In September 2022, I enhanced this beautiful image of Debra for them. Wayne used it in a poster on the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims.

Her eyeshadow matched her flowers, which matched the lace designs in her dress. It broke my heart how beautiful she looked.

Debra and her family deserve justice.

Read @MaureenEBoyle1 “Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer” for a detailed, empathetic account of these still-unsolved deaths.

If you have any information that can help identify the person(s) responsible for these deaths, please call @MassStatePolice Lt. Ann Marie Robertson at 508-961-1918 or email [email protected].

BREAKING: A terminally-ill Kansas man’s hospital room was raided by cops because he used a THC vape and paste to ease the symptoms of the cancer that will kill him within weeks.
He is set to appear in court Jan 2nd.
This is inhumane.
